Monday Evening.

T The Sentences.

Thus saith the Lord unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live.

Seek him that turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night; that calleth the waters from the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth; the Lord is his Name. Seek good and not evil, that ye may live, and so the Lord God of hosts shall be with you.

If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land; but if ye refuse and rebel, and forsake the Lord, ye shall be consumed.

Let us confess our sins to Almighty God.

O Lord God Almighty, Searcher of the hearts of men; We confess before thee the sins, negligences, and ignorances of the past day, and beseech thee mercifully to forgive them. Bring us back into the ways and thoughts of godliness. Drive out every vain imagination which the world hath left, and cleanse the sanctuary of our hearts, that thy Spirit may enter in and dwell there. And so draw us, blessed Lord, continually towards thee, that each succeeding day may help us onward to that perfec

The Collect for the Day.

I.

O Lord God, in whose hands are all things in heaven and earth, who bringest down the mighty from their seat, and exaltest the humble and meek, who makest rich, and makest poor; Remove far from us vanity and lies; give us neither poverty nor riches; feed us with food convenient for us, lest we be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the Lord? or lest we be poor and steal, and take the Name of our God in vain. Let no riches ever make us forget ourselves; let no poverty ever make us forget thee; but let thy Holy Spirit in all things direct and rule our hearts and minds, and ren

der effectual the salutary precepts of thy Holy Word; that we may be filled with heavenly wisdom, and richly abound in the fruits of Christian knowledge and goodness. O Lord, grant in thy mercy to all those who are far from thee, and are yet in the darkness of ignorance and error, that they may be led by thy grace into the way of salvation, and to know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent. Amen.

II.

O blessed Lord Jesus, who didst in the body visit the house of Lazarus and Mary, and adorn it with thy presence; So visit in Spirit, we beseech thee, this thine household, and come among us, and bless us. Dwell in all our hearts by faith, that the same mind being in us that was in thee, we may ever live together in all gentleness and forbearance one towards another, always thoughtful for each other's good, and mindful of the duties we owe one to another. Thus grant, gracious Lord, that we, living together under the same roof here on earth, may hereafter meet to dwell with thee in the same house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens; where thou livest and reignest, with the

Father and the Holy Ghost, ever one God world without end. Amen.

Prayers for SPECIAL OCCASIONS.

III.

Almighty God, whose keeping, as of a faithful Creator and merciful Saviour, hath brought us safe to the end of this day; We humbly and heartily thank thee for the mercies of the same. May it please thee to continue to us thy gracious protection through the night. Grant us the blessing of wholesome and innocent repose; defend us from all danger, and bring us again to see the light of another day refreshed in body and mind, and renewed in heart by thy Holy Spirit; that so we may to-morrow, and each succeeding day of our lives, serve and please thee in the growth of grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all this night and evermore. Amen.

Tuesday Morning.

The Sentences.

Praised be the Lord daily, the God who helpeth us, and poureth his benefits upon us. He is our God, even the God of whom cometh our salvation. God is the Lord by whom we escape death.

The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. His mercy endureth for ever: there is no end of his loving-kindness and truth. O give thanks unto the Lord always, and be talking of his praise and wondrous works. Let your songs be of him, and praise him, and think on his commandments to do them.

Let us confess our sins to Almighty God.

O Almighty God, who workest in us both to will and to do of thy good pleasure; Give us, we beseech thee, unfeigned repentance for all our past transgressions; and vouchsafe unto us such a measure of thy grace as may enable us to subdue every sinful inclination, to fulfil thy commandments, and to walk worthy of our high calling in Christ Jesus; that so we may finally obtain the blessed promises which thou hast
