by faith in Jesus Christ; and let there be joy in thy heavenly household over us, as over those who were dead and are alive again, who were lost and are found. Hear us, we beseech thee, in the Name, and for the sake of Jesus Christ thy Son, our Lord. Amen.

The Collect for the Day.

I.

Most mighty Lord and merciful Father, we yield thee hearty thanks for our bodily sustenance this day, beseeching also thy gracious goodness so to feed us with the food of thy heavenly grace, that we may worthily glorify thy holy Name in this life, and after be made partakers of life everlasting; through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

II.

Vouchsafe, O loving Father, to send thy Holy Spirit unto us, which may make us new creatures. Put Put away from us all fleshly lusts; fill our hearts with new affections and spiritual motions; and so altogether renew us, both in body and soul, through thy godly inspiration, that we may die unto the old Adam, and live unto thee in newness of life; serving thee, our Lord God, in holiness and righteousness all the days of our life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

III.

O blessed Jesus, our God and our Helper, whose Name is comfortable, the hope of all that are miserable, the relief of the oppressed, the refuge of all that seek salvation; Give us thy grace, that we may set thee always before our eyes, to obey thy blessed commands, to trust in thy protection, to follow thy holy example, to give praises to thy ever blessed Name, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.

¶ Prayers for SPECIAL OCCASIONS.

IV.

O Lord our Heavenly Father, who alone preservest our life by night and by day, and sustainest us when we lie down and when we rise up, We desire to rest this night under thy gracious protection. Keep, O Lord, our bodies from accident and disease, and our souls from sin. Bless, we beseech thee, our sleep unto us, that it may refresh us to run again our daily course, and to do the work appointed to our several stations. May the light of thy day awaken us to seek again the light of thy countenance, in prayer to thee, and in dutiful obedience to thy word, so that we may not rise up to sin and then lie down in sorrow. Grant this for thy dear Son's sake, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all this night and evermore. Amen.

Friday Morning.

T The Sentences.

Let them that believe in God be careful to maintain good works.

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Be not deceived, God is not mocked, for whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the spirit shall of the spirit reap life everlasting.

Ye are bought with a price, even with the precious blood of Christ; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.

Let us confess our sins to Almighty God.

O most mighty God and merciful Father, who hast compassion upon all men, and hatest nothing that thou hast made; who wouldest not the death of a sinner, but rather that he should turn from his sin and be saved; Mercifully forgive us our trespasses; receive and comfort us who are grieved and wearied with the burden of our sins. Thy property is always to have mercy, to thee only it appertaineth to forgive sins. Spare us therefore, good Lord, spare thy crea

tures whom thou hast redeemed. Enter not into judgment with thy servants, who are vile earth and miserable sinners; but so turn thine anger from us who meekly acknowledge our vileness and truly repent us of our faults, and so make haste to help us in this world, that we may ever live with thee in the world to come; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

I.

O Father of mercies, whose blessed Son was, as on this day of the week, crucified for us, the just for the unjust, to bring us to thee; Give grace, we beseech thee, to every member of this family to look in faith upon that Cross, and to crucify ourselves upon it to every sinful
