that, forbearing and forgiving one another, we may find mercy at thy hands; through the merits and intercession of Jesus Christ, our only Mediator and Advocate. Amen.

Bow down thine ear, O Lord, to our humble prayer, and give us grace to consecrate the short residue of our days to thy service, to redeem the time which we cannot recall, and to make our calling and election sure, before we go hence and be no more seen. Accept our thanksgiving for all thy mercies and deliverances, from time to time continued unto us; give us grace to be mindful of all thy blessings, and chiefly of thy great goodness in our salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ. Extend thy protection and fatherly care over us this night, that we may quietly take that rest which thou hast appointed for our weak and wearied bodies; and grant that when this life shall end, and our last sleep shall come, we may eternally rest in thy heavenly kingdom, for thy Son Jesus Christ's sake, our only Lord and Saviour. Amen.

T The Sentences.

Trust in the Lord and do good, so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

Be mindful of the Lord thy God all thy days, and let not thy will be set to sin, or to transgress his commandments.

Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour; whom resist, steadfast in the faith.

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.

Let us confess our sins to Almighty God.

O most merciful God, we thy unworthy servants do confess that we have not obeyed thy voice, neither walked in the ways which thou hast set before us. To us, O Lord, belongeth confusion of face, but to thee mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against thee. Give us, we beseech thee, sincere repentance for all our past misdeeds, and steadfast faith in thy blessed Son, that our sins may be done away, and our pardon sealed in heaven; through the merits and mediation of the same our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

The Collect for the Day.

I.

O Almighty and gracious God, who now at the return of day hast displayed thy goodness and power in restoring strength to our bodies and light to our eyes; Have mercy upon us, and favourably accept this our morning sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving. Increase in us this day the faith of thy blessed Son, that we may continue the work of our salvation with godly fear and trembling. Let thy Holy Word, we beseech thee, cast its light around us, that we may see the narrow way that leadeth to eternal life; and give us grace that we may always walk as in thy sight, and so at last secure our entrance into thy heavenly kingdom; through the merits and intercession of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

II.

O good Lord, we poor and wretched sinners, despairing of our own strength, which is indeed none, most heartily pray thee to endue us with strength from above, that we may be able with strong faith to resist Satan, with fervent prayer to mortify the lusts of the flesh, and with continual meditation of thy Holy Law to avoid the foolish vanities and transitory pleasures of this passing world, that so, through thy grace, we being set at liberty from the power of our enemies, may live and serve thee in holiness and righteousness all the days of our life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O God, by whom the whole world is erned and preserved; We give thee humble thanks for thy fatherly care over us during the week now drawing to a close; beseeching thee to make us truly sensible of thy mercies, and to enable us to show forth our gratitude for them by obedience to the Gospel of thy Son. Give us grace that we may always walk as in

thy sight; and making a conscience of our ways, and fearing to offend thee, may never fall into the sins we have repented of. Mortify us to the world, and confirm our courage to fight manfully under the banner of our crucified Redeemer, that we may be able to stand the shock of all temptations. Take away from

us all ignorance, that so we may know both ourselves and thee. Continue to us thy precious gifts and blessings, in body, mind, and soul, with grace to use them ever in thy service, to thy honour and glory. And may nothing, either in life or death, separate us from thy love in Jesus Christ thy Son, our Lord, who with thee and the Holy Ghost liveth and reigneth one God blessed for ever. Amen.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all this day and evermore. Amen.
