VER. 7.

a But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idelaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and limstone : which is the second death. • See on Matt. xxv. ver. 41.

VER. 9.

Καὶ ἦλθε πρός με εἷς τῶν ἑπτὰ ἀγγέ λων τῶν ἐχόντων τὰς ἑπτὰ φιάλας τὰς γεμούσας τῶν ἑπτὰ πληγῶν τῶν ἐσχά των· καὶ ἐλάλησε μετ ̓ ἐμοῦ, λέγων Δεύρο, δείξω σοὶ τὴν νύμφην τοῦ ἀρνίου τὴν γε

Καὶ ἀπήνεγκέ με ἐν πνεύματι ἐπ ̓ ὅρος μέγα καὶ ὑψηλὸν, καὶ ἔδειξέ μοι τὴν πό καταβαίνουσαν ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἀπὸ τοῦ λιν τὴν μεγάλην, τὴν ἁγίαν Ἱεξουσαλήμ,

Εχουσαν τὴν δόξαν τοῦ Θεοῦ· καὶ ὁ φωτ τὴς αὐτῆς ὅμοιος λίθῳ τιμιωτάτῳ, ὡς λίθῳ ἰάσπιδι κρυσταλλίζοντα·

At the west side four thousand and five hundred, with their three gates: one gate of Gad, one gate of Asher, one gate of Naphtali, Isa. xlviii. 31-34.

VER. 13.

̓Απ ̓ ἀνατολῆς, πυλῶνες τρεῖς· ἀπὸ βοῤῥᾶ, πυλῶνες τρεῖς· ἀπὸ νότου, πυλώνες τρεῖς· ἀπὸ δυσμῶν, πυλῶνες τρεῖς.

On the east three gates ; on the north three gates; on the south three gates ; and on the west three gates.

VER. 14.

Καὶ τὸ τεῖχος τῆς πόλεως ἔχον θεμε λίους δώδεκα, καὶ ἐν αὐτοῖς ὀνόματα τῶν δώδεκα ἀποστόλων τοῦ ἀρνίου.

And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, s and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone, Eph. ii. 20.

VER. 15.

Καὶ ὁ λαλῶν μετ ̓ ἐμοῦ, εἶχε κάλαμον χρυσοῦν, ἵνα μετρήσῃ τὴν πόλιν, καὶ τοὺς πυλῶνας αὐτῆς, καὶ τὸ τεῖχος αὐτῆς.

Καὶ ἡ πόλις τετράγωνος κεῖται, καὶ τὸ μῆκος αὐτῆς τοσοῦτον ἐστιν ὅσον καὶ τὸ πλάτος· καὶ ἐμέτρησε τὴν πόλιν τῷ και λάμῳ ἐπὶ σταδίων δώδεκα χιλιάδων· τὸ μῆκος καὶ τὸ πλάτος καὶ τὸ ὕψος αὐτῆς ἴσα ἐστί.

And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth, and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.

VER. 17.

Καὶ ἐμέτρησε τὸ τεῖχος αὐτῆς ἑκατὸν τεσσαράκοντα τεσσάρων πηχῶν, μέτρον ἀνθρώπου, ὅ ἔστιν ἀγγέλου.

And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.

VER. 18.

Καὶ ἦν ἡ ἐνδόμησις τοῦ τείχους αὐτῆς, ἴασπις· καὶ ἡ πόλις χρυσίον καθαρὸν, ὁμοία ὑάλῳ καθαρῶ.

And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.

VER. 19.

Καὶ οἱ θεμέλιοι τοῦ τείχους τῆς πόλεως παντὶ λίθω τιμίῳ κεκοσμημένοι· ὁ θεμέ λιος ὁ πρῶτος, ἴασπις· ὁ δεύτερος, σάπ φειρος· ὁ τρίτος, χαλκηδών· ὁ τέταρτος, σμάραγδος·

a And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, supfourth, an emerald ; phire ; the third, a chalcedony; the

Gentiles shall come unto thee. The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all they from Sheba shall come : they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall shew forth the praises of the LORD. All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister unto thee : they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory. Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as the doves to their windows? Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LoRD thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee. And the sons of strangers shall build

up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee; for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee. Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought, Isa. Ix. 3-11. Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; litt up a standard for the people. Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh ; behold, bis reward is with him, and his work before him. And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken, lx. 10-12.

The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts. Yea, all kings shall fall down before him all nations shall serve him, Psal. lxxii. 10, 11.

Καὶ οἱ πυλῶνες αὐτῆς οὐ μὴ κλεισθών σιν ἡμέρας· νὺξ γὰρ οὐκ ἔσται ἐκεῖ.

And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
