CHAPTER 32.

AN ACT requiring a list of the members of the Fire Engine and Hose Companies of the city of Covington to be reported to the Clerk of the Kenton Circuit Court.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That the respective Secretaries or Clerks of the several Fire Engine and Hose Companies of the city of Covington be, and they are hereby, required to make out a correct list of the members of said several companies, and report the same on the first Monday in March, in each year, to the Clerk of the Kenton Circuit Court, and that said Clerk furnish a copy thereof to the Commissioners appointed to select petit jurors: that upon each failure of the Secretaries or Clerks of said companies to report said list, as herein required, they shall severally pay a fine of ten dollars, recoverable before the Circuit Court of said county, on the presentment of the Grand Jury.

CHAPTER 34.

AN ACT for the benefit of Amelia M. Hamilton, and for other purposes. SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That Amelia M. Hamilton, who has been divorced from her husband, William Hamilton, be, and she is hereby, restored to her maiden name of Amelia M. Caldwell.

SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That Virginia Hunt, who has been divorced from her husband, Alemith Hunt, be, and she is hereby, restored to her maiden name, Virginia Richardson.

SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, That the name of William W. Burchetta. Burchetta be changed to that of William Rountree, by which he is usually known.

CHAPTER 35.

AN ACT for the relief of Ishmael C. Sutton, Constable of Ohio county. WHEREAS, It is represented to the present General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, that Ishmael C. Sutton was, at the January term of the Ohio County Court, appointed Constable of the third district of said county, and the said Sutton was qualified, and executed bond, as is prescribed by law, with Presley Wilhoite and John Powers his securities, and that the Clerk of said Court omitted to enter on the order book of said Court his appointment, as aforesaid; and as doubts have arisen as to the legality of his acts as Constable, aforesaid: for remedy whereof,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That all the official acts of said Sutton are hereby declared as valid and legal as if the order for his appointment had been regularly entered on the minutes of the proceedings of said Court.

CHAPTER 36.

AN ACT for the benefit of William Butler, of Monroe county.

WHEREAS, William Butler, of Monroe county, not having any children of his own, is desirous to adopt Isabella Pleasants Dickerson, commonly called Isabella Butler, and Sarah Lewis Lilly, late Sarah Lewis Butler, both of Monroe county, as his own children, and to have them inherit his estate as such; and, also, to have the name of the said Isabella Pleasants Dickerson changed to that of Isabella Pleasants Butler: therefore,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That the name of the said Isabella Pleasants Dickerson, be changed to the name of Isabella Pleasants Butler; and that the said Sarah Lewis Lilly, and the said Isabella Pleasants Butler, shall, hereafter, be entitled to all the rights and privileges of children of the said William Butler, born in lawful wedlock; and they, or their descendants shall, at his death, be entitled to inherit his estate, in the same manner, and under the same rules and regulations as if they were his own children, lawfully begotten.

CHAPTER 37.

AN ACT to allow an additional Constable to Pulaski county.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That there be, and is, hereby, allowed, to the county of Pulaski, an additional Constable, to reside in the neighborhood of Aden Jones, of said county.

CHAPTER 38.

AN ACT to establish an additional Election Precinct in Hopkins county.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That an election precinct be, and the same is, hereby, established, at the house of Moore Springfield, in Hopkins county; and the laws of this Commonwealth shall be observed in all elections that shall be held at said precinct. CHAPTER 39.

AN ACT for the benefit of John C. Waggener and the heirs of George Munday.

WHEREAS, It is represented to this General Assembly, that John C. Waggener purchased of George Munday, by parol contract, a small piece of land, in the county of Mercer, containing two acres three rods and twenty two square perches, for which he has paid part of the purchase money, leaving a part unpaid, and on which he has erected valuable and lasting improvements, consisting of a dwelling, blacksmith shop, and other out buildings; since which, the said George Munday has départed this life: and it is further represented, that it will be for the interest of the estate of said Munday to have the said parol contract carried into effect, by passing the title to said land, and receiving the balance of the purchase money, instead of taking back the land, refunding the purchase money already paid, and paying for the improvements: therefore,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That the said John C. Waggener be, and he is, hereby, authorized to file his bill in chancery, in the Mercer Circuit Court, setting out the said contract, and what has been done and paid under it, the amount still remaining due, a description of the land, by metes and bounds, with a plat and survey thereof, making the heirs at law, and administrators of said George Munday, deceased, defendants thereto; and upon such contract being made out, and the Chancellor of said Court being satisfied, by the report of three Commissioners, to be by him appointed, and by other proof in the cause, that it will be for the advantage of the heirs of George Munday, aforesaid, to carry said parol contract into effect, he shall have power and authority to make all necessary orders and decrees for that purpose, and to protect and secure the rights of all parties concerned. CHAPTER 40.

AN ACT to change a Precinct in Harlan county.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That the place of voting, in Harlan county, at William Harklerodes', shall be, and the same is, hereby, changed to Skelton Renfro's old place, at the forks of Straight creek. Approved January 14, 1845.

CHAPTER 41.

AN ACT to establish an Election Precinct in the county of Pike.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That an election precinct be, and the same is,

hereby, established, at the House of Hammon Williamson, in the county of Pike; and that the laws of this Commonwealth, relating to elections, shall be observed in all elections that shall be held at said precinct.

CHAPTER 42.

AN ACT for the benefit of John Vickers.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That it shall be lawful for the County Court of Muhlenburg county, a majority of all the Justices being present, to make an order, granting to John Vickers the privilege of erecting a fish dam and trap on Pond river, under such limitations and restrictions as shall be deemed necessary by said Court: Provided, That said Vickers shall, in the County Court of Muhlenburg county, execute bond, with security, payable to the Commonwealth, the penalty of which shall be fixed by said Court, conditioned that he will remove said dam within thirty days, whenever required to do so by the Court: And, provided further, That the height of said dam shall not exceed two feet.

CHAPTER 43.

AN ACT for the benefit of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Elkton. SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That Caleb N. Bell, Henry H. Roberts, Isaac Ayres, Hazel Petree, John F. Jones, and James A. McReynolds, Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church in the town of Elkton, or their successors in office, be, and they are hereby, empowered to sell and convey the Methodist Episcopal Church, in said town, (the same being on lot No. 65, in John Gray's plan of said town,) which deed shall vest the absolute fee simple in and to said lot of ground and appurtenances in the purchaser, his or her heirs and assigns forever.

SEC. 2. That the Trustees, aforesaid, or their successors in office, shall appropriate and apply the proceeds of the sale of said house and lot, to aid in the purchase of a lot of ground in, or near said town, and erecting thereon a new Methodist Episcopal Church.

CHAPTER 45.

AN ACT for the benefit of Mary Ann Fugate and Thomas Sexton.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That the name of Mary Ann Fugate, of Anderson county, be, and the same is hereby, changed to Mary Ann Dawson.

SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That the name of Thomas Sexton, of Carter county, be, and the same is hereby, changed to Thomas Gallion.

CHAPTER 46.

AN ACT to revive the act concerning the town of New Liberty, approved 27th February, 1844.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That the act to amend the several acts concerning the town of New Liberty, approved the 27th February, 1844, be revived, and the citizens may proceed to elect Trustees of said town on the last Saturday in February, 1845, and on the first Saturday in February in each year thereafter, by first giving ten days previous notice of the time and place, at three different places in said town.

CHAPTER 47.

AN ACT for the benefit of Thomas Cross.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That it shall be lawful for Thomas Cross to register, in the Clerk's office of the County Court of Todd county, the names of all the slaves he now owns, or any he may receive by inheritance, hereafter; and it shall be lawful for him to work said slaves, as it may suit his convenience, either in the State of Kentucky or Tennessee, without incurring the penalties of the act of 1833, prohibiting the importation of slaves into this State.

CHAPTER 48.

AN ACT to legalize the appointment of Benjamin Alsop, Constable of Daviess county.

WHEREAS, It is represented to the General Assembly, that Benjamin Alsop has been, by the County Court of Daviess county, duly appointed Constable of said county, for the Constable's District including Owensboro', the county seat of said
