FOR THE

Administration of the LORD'S SUPPER OF HOLY COMMUNION.

VERY Prieft fhall take particular care not to admit any to the Holy Sacrament of the Eucharift, but those whom he knows to be in the Communion of the Church, or elfe is certified thereof by fufficient teftimony. And to the end this Order may be obferved, fo many as intend to be partakers of the Holy Communion, Shall fignify their names to the Prieft at leaft fome time the day before.

And if any of those be an open and notorious evil liver, or have done any wrong to his neighbour by word or deed, fo that the Congregation be thereby offended; the Prieft having knowledge thereof, fhall call him and advertise him, that in any wife he prefume not to come to the Lord's Table, until he hath openly declared himself to have truly repented and amended his former wicked Life, that the Congregation may thereby be fatisfied, which before was offended; and that be hath recompenfed the Parties to whom he bath

done wrong, or at least declare himself in full purpose fo to do, as foon as he conveniently may. The fame order fhall the Prieft ufe with those, betwixt whom he perceiveth malice and hatred to reign; not fuffering them to be partakers of the Lord's Table, until he know them to be reconciled. And if one of the Parties fo at variance be content to forgive from the bottom of his heart all that the other bath trefpaffed against him, and to make amends for that he himself bath offend ed; and the other party will not be perfuaded to a godly unity, but remaineth ftill in his frowardnefs and malice: the Prieft in that cafe ought to admit the penitent perfon to the Holy Communion, and not him that is obftinate. Provided that every Prieft fo repelling any, as is fpecified in this or the next precedent Paragraph of this Rubrick, Shall be obliged to give an account of the fame to the Bishop or the Ordinary of the place within fourteen days after at the fartheft.

The Altar at the Communion time having a fair white linen cloth upon it, fhall ftand at the Eaft end of the Church or Chapel. And the Priest and People ftanding with their faces towards the Altar, fhall fay or fing (in the fame manner as the Pfalms for the day are faid or fung) for the Introit the Pfalm appointed for that day according to that Tranflation which is in the Book of Common-Prayer.

Note, that whenever in this Office the Prieft is directed to turn to the Altar, or to ftand or kneel before it, or with his Face towards it, it is always meant that he should ftand or kneel on the North-fide thereof.
