The Hebrew name is 3, TZEBI, which signifies to collect. Gazelles live together in troops, the numbers sometimes amounting to thousands. These creatures are universally admired for their beauty. They are lively and brilliant. Their eyes are so bright, yet at the same time presenting such an expression of softness, gentleness, and meekness, that eastern poets compare the eyes of the most beautiful of women to those of the gazelle.
