Help me to spend it in this way. Keep me from running and playing as on other days. When I speak, let it be about good things. Help me to speak and sing about Jesus. When thy holy word is read to me, help me to listen, and to say with thy little servant Samuel, "Speak, Lord, for thy servant heareth." Let me not weary of thy holy day, and say in my heart, "When will it be over?" As it is the best day, may it be to me the happiest. Help me to spend this Sabbath in thy fear, and may I close it in thy favour; and may I be more and more prepared for that world where the sun shall no more go down, and the Sabbath will never come to an end. Amen. ANOTHER MORNING PRAYER FOR THE LORD'S DAY. This is the day when I am called To worship thee, O Lord, And hear thy holy will revealed On all who worship there. Assist thy servant who will shew To those who from thy courts below In honour of thy holy name And may each heart with joy proclaim EVENING PRAYER FOR THE O blessed Jesus, bend thine ear, And love thee more and more. On this the evening of thy day, Thy holy word-it tells to me My heart, alas! is very frail, Thy holy word is good and true. This night, O Lord, before I sleep, Each day and night, let me be found MORNING PRAYER. O Lord, I thank thee for all thy mercies to me through the past night, and for raising me up in health to see the light of a new day. Lord, be with me all this day; teach me to remember that thine eye is upon me at all times. Thou knowest every thought of my heart and every word of my tongue. O Lord, create a clean heart within me, and renew within me a right spirit. May I be washed from all my sins in the Saviour's precious blood. O Lord, make me careful this day to do those things that I know to be pleasing in thy sight. May I be obedient to my parents; gentle and loving to my sisters and brothers; and kind to every one. Teach me to do to others as I would wish others to do to me, and never to render evil for evil to any. O Lord, be with me all this day, to keep me in thy fear, and to defend me from danger. All that I would ask is for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen. EVENING PRAYER. O Lord, I desire to come before thee this evening, to thank thee for all thy goodness to me through the past day. O Lord, pardon every sin that I have committed this day, in my thoughts, words, or actions. May all my sins be taken away, and teach me to hate sin as thou hatest it, and to love and follow after true holiness. O Lord, bless papa and mamma, my sisters and brothers, and all my friends. Make them all the friends of Jesus. guided by thy counsel while we May we all be live, and after ward be received into glory. Have mercy, 0 Lord, on the poor ignorant heathen. Send teachers to them who will tell them of Jesus; *Here the parent or nurse may mention any sin that inay have been observed during the day. and may they and we learn to love and obey him with all our heart. Hear our prayers, O Lord, and accept of us and bless us, for Christ's sake. Amen. PART THIRD-PRAYERS FOR THE YOUNG FURTHER ADVANCED. SABBATH MORNING PRAYER. This, O Lord, is the day which thou hast made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. Thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. I adore thee, gracious Lord, as the former of my body and the Father of my spirit. Make me a new creature in Christ Jesus my only Saviour, who loved me and gave himself for me. Put thy Holy Spirit within my heart, that I may this day worship thee in spirit and in truth. Forgive, most merciful God, all my sins and short comings in duty. Go with me to thy holy temple. Open my eyes to see and my heart to feel the truth as it is in Jesus. Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law. Bless my beloved relatives this day with light and grace from on high.
