CHAP. II. And yo'u hath he quick'ened,' who were dead' in tres'passes and sin's; 2 Wherein' in time past' ye walked according to the course of this' world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now work'eth in the children of disobe'dience: 3 Amon'g whom also we all had our conversa'tion in times past' in the lust's of our flesh', fulfill'ing the desires of the flesh' and of the mi'nd; and were by na'ture the children of wra'th, even as oth'ers. But Go'd, who is rich' in mercy, for his grea't love wherewith' he loved us, 5 E'ven when we were dead' in sins, hath quick'ened us togeth'er with Chri'st; (by gra'ce ye are saved;) 6 And hath ra'ised 'us up togeth'er, and made 'us' sit' together in heav'enly 'pla'ces' in Chri'st Je'sus; 7 That in the a'ges to com'e he might she'w the exce'eding rich'es of his gra'ce, in 'his' kindness to'ward us through Chri'st Je'sus. 8 Fo'r by gra'ce are ye sa'ved through faith; and that' not' of yourselves it is' the gift of Go'd: 9 Not of work's, lest an'y man should bo'ast. 10 Fo'r we are his work'manship, crea'ted in Chri'st Je'sus un'to good' works, which Go'd hath befo're ordained that we should walk in them. 11 Wherefore remember, that ye' 'be'ing' in time past' Gen'tiles in the flesh', who are called Un'circumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh' made by hand's; 12 That at that' time ye were without' Chri'st, be'ing aliens from the com'monwealth of Is'rael, and stra'ngers from the covenants of prom'ise, hav'ing no ho'pe, and without' Go'd in the world: 13 But now', in Chri'st Je'sus, ye' who sometimes were fa'r of'f, are made ni'gh by the blood of Chri'st. 14 Fo'r he' is our pe'ace, who hath made bo'th on'e, and hath broken down the mid'dle wa'll of partition 'betwe'en us;' 15 Having abolished in his flesh' the en'mity, 'e'ven' the law of command'ments 'conta'ined' in o'rdinances; for to make in himself' of twa'in on'e new' man, so'' ma'king pe'ace; 16 And that he might rec'oncile bo'th un'to Go'd in on'e bod'y by the cross', having sla'in the en'mity thereby'; 17 And ca'me and pre'ached peace to

you which were afa'r of'f, and to them' that were ni’gh. 18 Fo'r through him' we both have access' by on'e Spirit un'to the Fa'ther. 19 Now therefore ye are no mo're stra'ngers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the hous'chold of Go'd; 20 And are built upon' the founda'tion of the apostles and proph'ets, Je'sus Chri'st himself' being the chief co'rner-sto'nę ;' 21 In whom all the building, fitly fra'med togeth'er, gro'weth un'to an holy tem'ple in the Lo'rd: 22 In whom ye' a'lso are buil'ded togeth'er for an habita'tion of Go'd through the Spirit.

CHAP. III. For this ca'use I Pa'ul, the prisoner of Je'sus Chri'st for yo'u Gen'tiles, 2 (If ye have heard of the dispensa'tion of the grace of Go'd which is given me to you-ward: 3 How that by revelation he made kno'wn un'to me the mystery, as I wro'te afo're in few words; 4 Whereby', when ye re'ąd, ye may understand' my knowledge in the mystery of Chri'st, 5 Which in oth'er a'ges was not made kno'wn un'to the sons of men, as it is now revealed un'to his holy apostles and proph'ets by the Spirit; That the Gen'tiles should be fel'low-he'irs, and of the sa'me bod'y, and parta'kers of his prom'ise in Chri'st by the gospel : 7 Whereof' I' was made a min'ister, acco'rding to the gift' of the gra'ce of Go'd given un'to me by the effec'tual work'ing of his power. Un'to me', whọ am less than the least of a'll sa'ints, is this grace giv'en, that I should pre'ach amon'g the Gen'tiles the unsearch'able rich'es of Chri'st; 9 And to make all 'men' see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world' hath been hid in Go'd, whọ crea'ted all things by Je'sus Chri'st: 10 To the intent that now', un'to the principal'ities and powers in heav'enly 'places,' might be kno'wn by the church' the man'ifold wis'dom of Go'd, 11 Acco'rding to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Chri'st Je'sus our Lo'rd: 12 In whom we have boldness and access' with con'fidence by the faith of him. 13 Wherefore I desi're that ye fa'jnt not at my tribula'tions for you, which is your glo'ry. 14 For this cause I bow my kne'es un'to the Father of our Lo'rd Jesus Chri'st, 15 of whom the whole family in heav'en and earth' is na'med, 16 That he would grant' you, ạcco'rding to the rich'es of his glo'ry, to be strengthened with might' by his Spirit in the in'ner man; 17 That

Chri'st may dwell' in your hea'rts by fa'ith; that ye, be'ing rooted and groun'ded in love, 18 May be a'ble to comprehend' with a'll sa'ints what' is' the bread'th, and length, and dep'th, and height'; 19 And to know the love of Chri'st, which pass'eth knowledge, that ye might be filled with a'll the fullness of Go'd. 20 Now, un'to him that is a'ble to do' exce'eding abun'dantly abov'e a'll that we ask' or think', according to the power that work'eth in us, 21 Un'to him' be glo'ry in the church' by Chri'st Je'sus throughout' a'll a'ges, world without' end'. CHAP. IV. I' therefore, the pris'oner of the Lo'rd,) beseech you that ye wa'lk worthy of the voca'tion wherewith' ye are called, 2 With a'll lo'wliness and me'ekness, with long-suffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the u'nity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is on'e bod'y, and on'e Spirit, e'ven as ye are called in on'e ho'pe of your calling; 5 One Lo'rd, one faith, one baptism, 6 One Go'd and Father of a'll, who 'is' above all, and thro'ugh a'll, and in' you a'll. But un'to every on'e of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Chri'st. Wherefore he saith, When he ascen'ded up on hi'gh, he led captiv'ity cap'tive, and gave gift's un'to men'. 9 (Now that he as'cended, what is it but that he also de'scended first in'to the lower parts of the earth? 10 He that de'scended is the same also that as'cended up fa'r abov'e all heav'ens, that he might fill a'll things.) 11 And he gave som'e, apostles; and som'e, prophets; and som'e, evan'gelists; and som'e, pas'tors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work' of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Chri'st: 13 Till we all come in the u'nity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son' of Go'd, un'to a per'fect man, un'to the measure of the stat'ure of the ful'ness of Chri'st: 14 That we henceforth' be no' more chil'dren, tossed to' and fro', and car'ried about' with ev'ery wind' of doc'trine, by the sleight' of men', 'and' cun'ning craf'tiness, whereby they lie in wa'it to deceive; 15 But, spe'aking the truth in lov'e, may grow up into him' in a'll things, which is the head', 'e'ven' Chri'st: 16 From whom the whole bod'y, fit'ly joined togeth'er, and compac'ted by that' which every joint' suppli'eth, acco'rding to the effec'tual working in the meas'ure of ev'ery pa'rt, ma'keth incre'ase of the body, un'to the ed'ifying of itself' in lov'e. 17 This' I say therefore, and

testify in the Lo'rd, that ye henceforth walk not' as other Gen'tiles walk, in the van'ity of their minds; Having the understan'ding da'rkened, being alienated from the life of Go'd through the ignorance that is in' them, beca'use of the blindness of their hea'rt: 19 Who, being past feeling, have given themselv'es o'ver un'to lasciviousness, to work a'll uncle'anness with gre'ediness. 20 But ye have not so' learned Chri'st; 21 If so' be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put of'f, concerning the fo'rmer conversa’tion, the old man, which is corrupt according to the dece'itful lust's; 23 And be renew'ed in the spirit of your mi'nd; 24 And that ye put on' the new' man, which af'ter Go'd is crea'ted in right'eousness and true ho'liness. 25 Wherefore, put'ting awa'y ly'ing, spe'ak every man tru'th with his neighbour fo'r we are mem'bers on'e of anoth'er. 26 Be ye angry, and sin' not: let not the sun' go down' upon' your wra'th: 27 Neither give pla'ce to the dev'il. 28 Let him' that sto'le ste'al no mo're: but rath'er let him la'bour, working with his hand's the thing which is good', that he may have to give to him that ne'edeth. 29 Let no' corrupt communica'tion proce'ed out of your mouth' but that' which is good' to the u'se of ed'ifying, that it may min'ister gra'ce un'to the he'arers. 30 And grie've not the Holy Spirit of Go'd, whereby' ye are se'aled un'to the day of redem'ption. 31 Let a'll bit'terness, and wra'th, and anger, and clam'our, and e'vil-spe'aking, be put awa'y from you, with a'll mal'ice: 32 And be ye kind one to anoth'er, ten'der-hea'rted, forgiving one anoth'er, e'ven as Go'd for Chri'st's sa'ke hath forgiv'en yo'u.

CHAP. V. Be ye therefore followers of Go'd, as de'ar children; 2 And walk in love, as Chri'st a'lso hath lov'ed us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sac'rifice to Go'd for a swe'et-smelling sa'vour. 3 But fornica'tion, and all uncle'anness, or covetousness, lẹt it nọt be once named among you, as becom'eth sa'ints; 4 Neither fil'thiness, nor fo'olish ta'lking, nor jes'ting, which are not convenient; but rath'er giving of thank's. For this' ye kno'w, that no who'remonger, nor uncle'an per'son, nor covetous man, who is an idol'ater, hath an'y inheritance in the kingdom of Chri'st and of Go'd. 6 Let no' man dece'ive you with va'in words; fo'r because of the'se things com'eth the wrath of Go'd upon' the children

of disobe'dience. 7 Be not ye' ther'efore parta'kers with them'. 8 Fo'r ye were sometimes da'rkness, but now' are ye' light' in the Lo'rd: wa'lk as children of light; 9(Fo'r the fruit of the Spir'it 'is' in a'll good'ness, and right'eousness, and truth;) 10 Pro'ving what is acceptable un'to the Lo'rd. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rath'er repro've them.' 12 For it is a shame e'ven to speak of those things which are done of them' in se'cret. 13 But all things that are repro'ved are made man'ifest by the light': fo'r whatsoev'er doth make manifest is light'. 14 Wher'efore he saith, Awa'ke thou that sle'epest, and ari'se from the dead', and Chri'st shall give thee light'. 15 Se'e then that ye wa'lk cir'cumspectly, not' as fo'ols, but as wi'se, 16 Rede'eming the time, because the days are e'vil. 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understan'ding what the will of the Lo'rd is.' 18 And be not drunk with wi'ne, wherein' is excess'; but be filled with the Spirit; 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms, and hym'ns, and spiritual son'gs, sin'ging and ma'king mel'ody in your heart to the Lo'rd; 20 Giving thank's always for all things un'to Go'd and the Father in the name of our Lo'rd Jesus Chri'st; 21 Submit'ting yoursel'ves on'e to anoth'er in the fear of Go'd. 22 Wi'ves, submit' yourselves un'to your own hus'bands, as un'to the Lo'rd. 23 For the husband is the head' of the wi'fe, e'ven as Chri'st is the head' of the church'; and he' is the sa'viour of the body. 24 Therefore as the church' is sub'ject un'to Chri'st, so' 'let' the wi'ves 'be' to their o'wn hus'bands in ev'ery thing. 25 Hus'bands, lov'e your wi'ves, e'ven as Chri'st also lov'ed the church', and gave himself' for it; 26 That he might sanc'tify and cleans'e it with the wash'ing of wa'ter by the word'; 27 That he might present' it to himself' a glo'rious church, not hav'ing spot', or wrin'kle, or an'y such thin'g; but that it should be ho'ly, and without' blem'ish. 28 So' o'ught men to lov'e their wi'ves as their o'wn bodies: he that lov'eth his wi'fe lov'eth himself'. 29 Fo'r no' man ever yet ha'ted his own flesh'; but nour'isheth and cherisheth it, e'ven as the Lo'rd the church'. 30 Fo'r we are mem'bers of his body, of his flesh', and of his bo'nes. 31 For this' ca'use shall a man le'ave his fa'ther and moth'er, and shall be joined un'to his wife, and they tw'o shall be on'e flesh. 32 This is a grea't mystery: but I spe'ak concerning Chri'st and the church'. 33 Nevertheless', let ev'ery on'e of
