sins and offences against the gracious influences of this blessed Spirit, and though we have shamefully resisted them, and quenched many holy desires and rays of divine light which He has kindled in us, yet let Him not be so grieved as to desert us. Keep, O! keep us, good Lord, from every approach towards the unpardonable sin against the Holy Ghost; keep us also from the presumptuous and dangerous sin of denying or despising his assistance. May we remember that if we despise or neglect his gracious aid we cannot serve Thee, our GOD, or believe in JESUS CHRIST our Saviour, or repent of our sins; and thus should we close against ourselves every hope of pardon and salvation. O let not, therefore, our past transgressions, or our present unworthiness, provoke Thee to withhold thy Holy Spirit from us. But let Him work in us deep repentance for our sins, and renew us in the spirit of our minds. Restore unto us, O Lord, the joy of thy salvation, and uphold us with thy

free Spirit. Leave us not destitute of his aid for one moment, but let Him be continually present with us, to work in us both to will and to do thy good pleasure, and to fit us more and more, by his daily influence on our hearts and lives, for the blessedness of thy glorious and everlasting presence in heaven.

We commend unto Thee all our friends and relations, and beseech Thee to let the same blessed Spirit so guide and rule their hearts, and the hearts of all who name the name of CHRIST, that they may walk worthy of the vocation wherewith they are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love, and endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

To GOD the Father, to GOD the Son, and to God the Holy Ghost, be all honour and glory, now and for ever. Amen.

TRINITY SUNDAY.

MORNING.

O THOU eternally blessed and ever-glorious Lord GOD, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, we humbly prostrate ourselves before thy Divine Majesty, desiring most heartily to thank Thee for all thy mercy and goodness to us, especially for thy preservation of us during the past night. O raise our hearts to Thee, and inspire us with a lofty sense of thy holiness and majesty. Thou art the GOD of all power and might; Thou inhabitest eternity, yet dwellest with the humble and contrite heart; we therefore earnestly desire to join with all the saints on earth, and with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, in praising and adoring and magnifying thy glorious name; evermore praising Thee, and saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord GOD of hosts; heaven and earth are full of thy glory; Glory be to Thee, O Lord most High! O eternal

GOD, the Father of our Lord JESUS CHRIST, Thou art the Creator of heaven and earth; Thou art our Preserver and daily Benefactor, giving us life and light, and food and raiment, and all things richly to enjoy. We desire to thank Thee for all these temporal bounties, but especially for thy spiritual and eternal blessings which Thou hast provided for our everlasting life. We thank Thee for these thy sabbaths and for all the means of grace, especially for thine unspeakable mercy in sending thy beloved Son into the world to redeem us from sin and misery, and to purchase for us eternal salvation, even at the price of his most precious blood. Grant us grace to feel some sense of the mercies and blessings Thou hast showered down on us, thy unworthy servants. May we learn to honour Thee more reverently, to love Thee more fervently, to praise Thee more worthily, and to trust and serve Thee more entirely and constantly all the days of our lives.

O Lord and Saviour, JESUS CHRIST, the

only-begotten Son of the Father, Lamb of God, that takest away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. Thou, who for our sakes didst come down from heaven, and take our nature upon Thee, have mercy upon us. Thou, who hast purged our sins by the sacrifice of thyself, and hast given us Thy body and blood to be food and life to our souls, have mercy upon us. Thou, who hast triumphed over death, ascended into heaven, and art now exalted at the right hand of God the Father, have mercy upon us, and hear our prayer. Thou art our Great High Priest; Thou hast appeared in the presence of GOD for us; Thou art our Advocate with the Father, and art ever ready to make intercession for us. O hear our prayers, and plead for us, that though we are sinful and unholy in ourselves, we may be pardoned, accepted, and blessed for thy sake. Accept us as thy brethren; make us to be children of GOD, and heirs with Thee of the kingdom of heaven, that we may be with Thee, and
