A sum not exceeding two hundred and eighty pounds currency, for the Education Society of the District of Quebec, as an aid towards the support of their Boys' Schools and their Girls' Schools.

A sum not exceeding one hundred pounds currency, to the Trustees of the Ber. thier Academy, as a further aid towards the support of that Institution.

A sum not exceeding six hundred and forty-four pounds ten shillings currency, to the Commissioners of the Deaf and Dumb Institution at Quebec, that is to say for the board and lodging of ten pupils, two hundred and twenty-five pounds cur. rency; for the board and lodging of Antoine Caron as assistant, twenty-two pounds ten shillings currency; for books and stationary, twenty-five pounds currency; for house rent, seventy two pounds, and for the salary of the Teacher, three hundred pounds currency, but the balance (if any) of the sum appropriated last year towards the support of the said Institution, which shall be in the hands of the said Commissioners on the first day of May next, shall be employed as part of the said sum of six hundred and forty-four pounds ten shillings currency, hereby appropriated and be reckoned as a part of the same.

A sum not exceeding forty-five pounds currency, to the Teacher of the Grammar School at Three Rivers, under the Royal Institution for the advancement of learning as his salary for the present year.

A sum not exceeding nineteen pounds six shillings and three pence currency, as an aid to pay Edward Kelly, for having kept a School in the School District number three, (being now School District number two,) in the Township of Farnham, County of Shefford for the six months expired on the fifteenth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and thirty.

A sum not exceeding two hundred and fifty pounds currency, to the Trustees of the School District number one in the Village of Huntingdon, in the County of Beauharnois, as an aid towards the Building of an Academy in the said Village, the same to be built of stone two stories high of sixty feet in length by forty in width to be paid to the said Trustees, when they shall have produced satisfactory evidence in writing that the said sum of two hundred and fifty pounds currency, is one half of the cost of the said Building.

A sum not exceeding one hundred pounds currency, as an aid to the Ladies Charitable Society at Quebec, for the support of the Orphan Asylum lately established in the Saint Rocks Suburb, of Quebec, as an aid towards the Education of the said Orphans.

II. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, that every person to to be account- whom shall be entrusted the expenditure of any portion of the monies hereby appropriated, shall make up detailed accounts of such expenditure, showing the sum advanced to the accountant, the sum actually expended, the balance (if any) remain ing in his hands, and the amount of the monies hereby appropriated to the purpose for which such advance shall have been made, remaining unexpended in the hands

Une somme n'excédant pas six cents quarante-quatre livres, dix chelins courant, aux Commissaires de l'Institut des Sourds-muets à Québec, c'est à savoir: pour la pension de dix élèves, deux cents vingt-cinq livres courant; pour la pension d'Antoine Caron, comme Assistant, vingt-deux livres dix chelins courant ; pour livres et papéterie, vingt-cinq livres courant; pour le loyer de la maison, soixante-et-douze livres courant; pour le Salaire de l'Instituteur, trois cents livres courant, mais la balance (si aucune y a,) de l'appropriation de l'année dernière, pour maintenir la dite Institution, qui restera entre les mains des dits Commissaires le premier Mai prochain, sera employée comme partie de la dite somme de six cents quarante-quatre livres dix chelins courant, affectée par le présent, et sera censée former partie d'icelle.

Une somme n'excédant pas quarante-cinq livres courant, au Maitre de l'Ecole de Grammaire des Trois-Rivières, sous la Régie de l'Institution Royale pour l'avancement de l'Instruction, comme son Salaire pour l'année courante.

Une somme n'excédant pas dix-neuf livres six chelins et trois deniers courant, pour aider à payer Edward Kelly pour avoir tenue l'Ecole dans l'arrondissement numéro trois, (maintenant l'arrondissement numéro deux,) dans le Township de Farnham, Comté de Shefford, durant six mois expirés le quinze Mai, mil huit cent

trente.

Une somme n'excédant pas deux cents cinquante livres courant, aux Syndics de l'arrondissement numéro un, dans le Village de Huntingdon, dans le Comté de Beauharnois, pour les aîder à bâtir une Académie ou Collège dans le dit Village, en pierres à deux étages, de soixante pieds sur quarante, à leur être payée en fournissant à qui il appartiendra des documens satisfaisans que la dite somme de deux cents cinquante livres courant est la moitié des frais de la dite bâtisse.

Une somme n'excédant pas cent livres courant, pour une aîde en faveur de la Société ds Dames Charitables de Québec, pour le soutien de l'Asile des Orphelins dernièrement établi dans le Fauxbourg St. Roch de Québec, pour aider à l'Education des dits Orphelins.

III. Et qu'il soit de plus statué par l'autorité susdite, que chaque personne qui sera chargée de l'emploi de quelque partie de deniers affectés par le présent, fera un compte détaillé de tel emploi, faisant ressortir la somme avancée au comptable, la somme alors dépensée, la balance (si aucune y a,) restant entre ses mains et le montant des deniers affectés par le présent à la fin pour laquelle telle avance aura été faite, restant non dépensé entre les mains du Receveur Général; et que tout tel

of the Receiver General; and that every such account shall be supported by vouchers therein distinctly referred to by numbers corresponding to the numbering of the items in such account; and shall be made up to, and closed on the tenth day of April and tenth day of October, in each year during which such expenditure shall be made, and shall be attested before a Justice of the Court of King's Bench or a Justice of the Peace, and shall be transmitted to the Officer whose duty it shall be to receive such account, within fifteen days next, after the expiration of the said periods respectively.

III. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, that the due applicabe accounted tion of the monies appropriated by this Act, thall be accounted for to His Majesty, for to His Ma- his Heirs and Successors, through the Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury, for the time being, in such manner and form as His Majesty, his Heirs and Successors shall direct; and that a detailed account of the expenditure of all such monies, shall be laid before the several branches of the Provincial Legislature, within the first fifteen days of the next Session thereof.

An Act to indemnify François Fortier for certain Extra Work by him performed, in building the new Hall of Assembly.

HEREAS it is.equitable to indemnify François Fortier of Quebec, Master Mason, for the extra work and losses by him performed and sustained as hereinafter set forth ;-May it therefore please Your Majesty that it may be enacted, and be it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Assembly of the Province of Lower Canada, constituted and assembled by virtue of and under the authority of an Act passed in the Parliament of Great Britain, intituled, "Act to repeal certain parts of an Act passed in the fourteenth year of His Majesty's Reign, intituled "An Act for making more effectual provision for the Govern"ment of the Province of Quebec in North America," and to make further provision "for the Government of the said Province;" And it is hereby enacted by the autho Governor em- rity of the same, that it shall be lawful for the Governor, Lieutenant Governor or advance a eer. person administering the Government, by Warrant under his hand and out of money to the any unappropriated monies in the hands of the Receiver General, to advance and

U qu'il est équitable d'indemniser François Fortier de Québec, Maître Maçon, Préambule. pour les ouvrages d'augmentations qu'il a fait et les pertes qu'il a souffertes, comme il est ci-après mentionné :-Qu'il plaise donc à Votre Majesté qu'il puisse être statué, et qu'il soit statué par la Très-Excellente Majesté du Roi, par et de l'avis et consentement du Conseil Législatif et de l'Assemblée de la Province du Bas-Canada, constitués et assemblés en vertu et sous l'autorité d'un Acte passé dans le Parlement de la Grande Bretagne, intitulé, "Acte qui rappelle certaines parties d'un Acte passé dans la quatorzième année du Règne de Sa Majesté, intitulé, "Acte qui pourvoit plus efficacement pour le Gouvernement de la Province de Québec, "dans l'Amérique Septentrionale, et qui pourvoit plus amplement pour le Gou"vernement de la dite Province;" Et il est par le présent statué par la dite autorité, qu'il sera loisible au Gouverneur, Lieutenant Gouverneur, ou à la personne ayant l'daministration du Gouvernement, par Warrant sous son seing d'avancer et payer à même aucuns des deniers non affectés entre les mains du Receveur Général, aux

vide for the erection of a new Hall of Assembly," a sum not exceeding five hundred and eighteen pounds and seven pence halfpenny currency, to enable the said Commissioners to pay a like sum to the said François Fortier, to indemnify him for certain extra work performed by him about the mason work of the said Hall, over and above that which he was bound to perform by his Contract, and for certain losses by him sustained by reason of the non inclusion in the total sum mentioned in the said Contract, as that for which the said François Fortier bound himself to complete the whole of the mason work of certain items mentioned in the specification and estimate on which the said Contract was founded, but omitted by error in the addition made of the several items of such estimate in order to ascertain the total sum aforesaid.

II. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, that the said Commisaccount of the sioners shall lay an account of the monies advanced to them under the authority of this Act and by them disbursed before the three Branches of the Legislature within fifteen days after the opening of the next Session thereof.

HEREAS considerable loss and inconvenience have been experienced by the Pilots in charge of vessels coming from sea to the Quarantine Station at Grosse Isle, in consequence of the absence of all Legislative enactmeut to empower them to claim indemnity for the time that they are detained in Quarantine at the place aforesaid :-Be it therefore enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and
