My soul doth magni- | fy the Lord, I and my spirit hath re-joiced in | God my | Saviour.

For he hath re-garded the lowli- ness of his hand- maiden.

For behold, from hence- | forth | all gene- | rations shall call me | blessed.

For he that is mighty hath magnified me, and holy | is his | Name, and his mercy is on them that fear him through- out all gene- | rations.

He hath showed strength | with his | arm; | he hath scattered the proud in the imagi- | nation | of their | hearts. |

He hath put down the mighty | from their | seats, and hath exalted the humble | and the | meek. He hath filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he hath sent | empty a- | way.

He, remembering his mercy, hath holpen his servant, | Israel, as he promised to our forefathers, Abraham and his | seed for ever.

Glory be to the Father, and to the | Son, and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever | shall be, I world without | end. A- | men.

Lord, now lettest thou thy servant de- | part in peace | ac- cording | to thy | word.
For mine eyes have seen thy sal-vation;

Which thou hast pre-pared before the face of all

people;

A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people | Israel.

Glory be to the Father, and to the | Son, | and | to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever | shall be, I world without | end. A- | men.

LO! HE COMES WITH CLOUDS DESCENDING.

CH. GOUNOD.

1. Lo, He comes, with clouds descending, Once for favor'd sinners slain; Thousand thousand saints attending

Swell the triumph of His train : Hal - le - lu - jah Hal - le lu-jah! God appears on earth to reign. A-men.

2 Every eye shall now behold Him,
Robed in dreadful majesty ;
Those who set at nought and sold Him,
Pierced, and nailed Him to the tree,
Deeply wailing,

Shall the true Messiah see.

3 Every island, sea, and mountain,

Heaven and earth, shall flee away: All who hate Him must, confounded, Hear the trump proclaim the day; Come to judgment, Come to judgment, come away.

4 Now redemption, long expected,
See in solemn pomp appear:
All His saints, by men rejected,
Now shall meet Him in the air:
Hallelujah!

See the day of God appear.

5 Yea, Amen; let all adore Thee,
High on Thine eternal throne:
Saviour, take the power and glory;
Claim the kingdom for Thine own.
O come quickly!

Hallelujah! Come, Lord, come! Amen.

HOSANNA TO THE LIVING LORD.

W. W. ROUSSEAU, 1877.

HARKI THE GLAD SOUND.

1. Hark! the glad sound! the Saviour comes, The Saviour promised long: Let every heart prepare a throne,

[blocks in formation]

Wisdom and might, and zeal and love, His holy breast inspire.

3 He comes the prisoners to release In Satan's bondage held;

The gates of brass before Him burst, The iron fetters yield.

4 He comes from thickest films of vice To clear the mental ray ;

And on the eyes oppress'd with night To pour celestial day.

5 He comes the broken heart to bind,
The bleeding soul to cure:

And with the treasures of His grace
To enrich the humble poor.

6 Our glad Hosannas, Prince of Peace,
Thy welcome shall proclaim;
And heaven's eternal arches ring
With Thy beloved name. Amen.

Hail, Thou long-expected Jesus.
TUNE-Stutgard.

1 HAIL, Thou long-expected Jesus,
Born to set Thy people free!
From our sins and fears release us,
Let us find our rest in Thee.

2 Israel's strength and consolation,
Hope of all Thy saints Thou art;
Long desired of every nation,
Joy of every waiting heart.

3 Born Thy people to deliver,
Born a child, yet God our King,
Born to reign in us for ever,

Now Thy gracious kingdom bring.

4 By Thine own eternal Spirit

Rule in all our hearts alone; By Thine all-sufficient merit

Raise us to Thy glorious throne. Amen.
