Michael Twyman, an authority on the history of lithography, states that: "No work of any importance had been printed in England by lithography at this stage and its use here [by Belzoni], as one early writer [in the Library of the Fine Arts, 1831] pointed out, had the effect of recommending the new process to artists" (Lithography 1800-1850, p. 189). This Atlas volume comprises 44 illustrations on 34 leaves of plates, of which 19 are hand-coloured lithographs after Belzoni, 21 are hand-coloured etchings, and 4 are uncoloured etchings after Belzoni and G.
