S.H.1825. 43 QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS UPON THE History and Prophecies OF THE OLD TESTAMENT, AS ILLUSTRATED AND EXPLAINED BY PASSAGES FROM THE NEW TESTAMENT: INTENDED OTHE Chiefly for the Use of the Masters and stresses of the National Schools. BY THE REV. W. H. TURNER, B. D. PRINTED FOR C. AND J. RIVINGTON, AND SOLD BY J. CHILCOTT, J. NORTON, AND W. STRONG, BOOKSELLERS, BRISTOL. 1825. PREFACE. THE want of some short catechetical work, to assist the Masters and Mistresses of the Schools, formed on the Madras System, in the examination of the Children from the Old Testament, has been a subject of frequent complaint. The object of this work is to supply that want. Its plan isto connect the Old Testament with the New by a series of Questions upon those important passages of the Old Testament which have been appealed to, in the New, by our Blessed Lord and His Apostles, in confirmation of the truth of Christianity. The explanation of the Types and Prophecies of the Old Testament form, of course, a conspicuous part of the plan. A few words may be necessary to explain the mode of using this little Manual. Obviously it is intended only for the most advanced Children in the Schools. Each Child in the highest Class should first read the Answers to the Questions, which the Master, or Teacher, must read distinctly to them. |
