76. God is the Creator of his People. Pf. li. 10. Create in me a clean Heart, O God, renew a right Spirit within me.

79. God is to his People, their Planter, Builder, &c. they are his Planting, bis Vine-Yard, which watereth and maketh fruitful his House, bis Building, &c.

God planted the Jewish Nation in the Land of Canaan. Exod. xv. 17. Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the Mountain of thine Inheritance, in the Sanctuary which thine Hands have established. 2 Sam. 7. 10.

Jer. xxxii. 41. I will plant them in this Land affuredly, with my whole Heart. Ch. 24. 6.-31. 4. 12. 28.—42. 10

Amos ix. 15. I will plant them upon their own Land, and they shall no more be plucked up out of their Land, faith the Lord.

80. The Lord planted, watered and made Fruitful, the Jewish Church. Pf. lxxx. 8. Thou haft brought a Vine out of Egypt, thou haft cast out the Heathen and planted it. Ver. 15. Pf. 72 16.

Ifa. iv. 2. In that Day fhall the Branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious, and the Fruit of the Earth shall be excellent and comely. Ch.

2 Theff. i. 3. We are bound to thank God for you, Brethren, because your Faith groweth exceedingly, and the Charity of every one of you toward each other aboundeth.

CHA P. IV.

Prophecies concerning Christ.

Prophefy and Miracles.

HE Tefiimony of Prophely appeal'd to as a Foundation of Faith in Chrift. John v. 39. Search the Scriptures, for in them yẹ think ye have eternal Life, and they are they which testify of me. Ver. 44. How can ye believe, which receive Honour one of another, and feek not the Honour that cometh from God only?

Ver. 45. There is one that accuseth you, even Mofes in whom ye truft.

Ver. 46. For had ye believed Mofes, ye would have believed me, for he wrote of me. John i. 45.

Ver. 47. But if ye believe not his Writings, how shall ye believe my Words?

Matt. xxvi. 24. The Son of Man goeth as it is written of him.

Mar. ix. 12. It is written of the Son of Man that he muft fuffer many things.

Luke xviii. 31. All things written by the Prophets concerning the Son of Man, must be accomplished.

xxii. 37. This that is written must be accomplished in me.

xxiv 44. All things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Mofes, and in the Prophets, and in the Pfalins concerning me.

Ver. 46. Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rife from the Dead the third Day.

2. The Teftimony of Prophesy urged by the Apofiles. Acts xvii. 2. Paul reafoned out of the Scriptures, Ver. 3. opening and alledging that Chrift muft needs have suffered and risen again from the Dead, and that this Jefus which I preach unto you is Chrift.

xxiv. 14. After the way which they call Herefy, fo worship I the God of my Fathers, believing all things which are written in the Law, and the Prophets.

xxvi. 22. I continue witneffing both to fmall and great, faying none other things, than thofe, which the Prophets and Mofes did fay fhould

come, Ver. 23. that Chrift should suffer, and that he should be the firft that fhould rife from the Dead.

Acts iii. 18. Peter faid, thofe Things that God before had shewed, by the Mouth of all his Prophets, that Chrift fhould fuffer, he hath fulfilled.

x. 43. To him gave all the Prophets witness.

xviii. 28. Apoftles mightily convinced the Jews, fhewing by the Scriptures, that Jefus was Chrift.

xxviii. 23. Paul expounded and teftified the Kingdom of God, perfuading them concerning Jefus, both out of the Law of Mofes, and out of the Prophets.

3. Prophecies concerning Chrift fulfilled, in his Incarnation, Life, Death, and Refurrection, and Afcenfion. Gen. iii. 15. The Seed of the Woman shall bruise the Serpent's Head.

Ifa. vii. 14. The Lord himself fhall give you a Sign, behold a Virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call his Name Immanuel. Jer. 31.22.

ix. 6. Unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given. See this fulfilled in the Conception, and birth of Jefus. Matt. 1. 18. to 25. Luke 1. 28. to 35,

Gal. iv, 4. God fent forth his Son, made of a Woman.

John i. 14. He was made Flesh.

Heb. xii. 14. He took part of Flesh and Blood.

Ver. 17. Was made like unto his Brethren.

Phil. ii. 7. Was made in the likeness of Men.

Ver. 8. Was found in fashion as a Man.

4. The Nation, Tribe, and Family, he was to defcend from. Gen. xii. 3: Abram, in thee fhall all the Families of the Earth be bleffed. Acts 3. 25.--Gal.. 3. 8.

xxi. 12. In Ifaac fhall thy Seed be called. Gal. 3. 16. Thy Seed which is Chrift.)

Gen. xxvi. 4. Ifaac, in thy Seed fhall all the Nations of the Earth be bleffed.

xxviii. 14. Jacob, in thy Seed fhall all the Families of the Earth be bleffed.

xlix. 8. Judah thy Brethren fhall praise thee, &c. Ver. 10. Ifai. xi. 1. David- I will raise to David a righteous Branch. Pf. lxxxix. 29. His Seed will I make to endure for ever.

23. 5.—33. 15. Pf. 18. 50.—89. 4. 36.—132. 11. John vii. 42. Chrift cometh of the Seed of David. Matt. xxii. 42. He is David's Son.
