21 Or questa generazion di demoni non esce fuori, se non per orazione, e per digiuno.

22 Ora, mentre essi conversavano nella Galilea, Gesù disse loro: Egli avverrà che il Figliuol dell' uomo sarà dato nelle mani degli uomini; 23 Ed essi l' uccideranno; ma, nel terzo giorno egli risusciterà. Ed essi ne furono grandemente contristati.

24 E, quando furon venuti in Capernaum, coloro che ricoglievano Îe didramme vennero a Pietro, e dissero: Il vostro Maestro non paga egli le didramme ?

25 Egli disse: Sì. E, quando egli fu entrato in casa, Gesù lo prevenne, dicendo: Che ti pare. Simone? da cui prendono i re della terra i tributi, o il censo? da' figliuoli loro, o dagli stranieri ?

26 Pietro gli disse: Dagli stranieri. Gesù gli disse: Dunque i figliuoli son franchi.

27 Ma, acciocchè noi non gli scandalezziamo, vattene al mare, e getta l' amo, e togli il primo pesce che salirà fuori, ed aprigli la gola, e tu vi troverai uno statere; prendilo e dallo loro, per te, e per me.

CAPO 18.

N quell' ora i discepoli vennero maggiore, nel regno de' cieli?

2 E Gesù, chiamato a sè un piccol fanciullo, lo pose nel mezzo di loro,

3 E disse: Io vi dico in verità, che se non siete mutati, e non divenite come i piccoli fanciulli, voi non entrerete punto nel regno de' cieli.

4 Ogni uomo adunque, che si sarà abbassato, come questo piccol fanciullo, è il maggiore nel regno de' cieli.

25 He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?

26 Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free.

27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast a hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee. and t

6 Ma chi avrà scandalezzato uno di questi piccoli che credono in me, meglio per lui sarebbe che gli fosse appiccata una macina da asino al collo, e che fosse sommerso nel fondo del mare.

7 Guai al mondo per gli scandali ! perciocchè, bene è necessario che scandali avvengano; ma nondimeno, guai a quell' uomo per cui lo scandalo avviene!

8 Ora, se la tua mano, o il tuo piè, ti fa intoppare, mozzali, e gettali via da te; meglio è per te d' entrar nella vita zoppo, o monco, che, avendo due mani, e due piedi, esser gettato nel fuoco eterno.

9 Parimente, se l'occhio tuo ti fa intoppare, cavalo, e gettalo via da te; meglio è per te d' entrar nella vita, avendo un occhio solo, che, avendone due, esser gettato nella geenna del fuoco.

10 Guardate che non isprezziate alcuno di questi piccioli; perciocchè io vi dico, che gli angeli loro veggono del continuo ne' cieli la faccia del Padre mio, che è ne' cieli.

11 Conciossiachè il Figliuol dell'uomo sia venuto per salvar ciò che era perito.

12 Che vi par egli? Se un uomo ha cento pecore, ed una di esse si smarrisce, non lascerà egli le novantanove, e non andrà egli su per li monti cercando la smarrita ?

13 E, se pure avviene ch' egli la trovi, io vi dico in verità, ch' egli più si rallegra di quella, che delle novantanove, che non si erano smarrite.

14 Così, la volontà del Padre vostro ch'è ne' cieli è, che neppur uno di questi piccioli perisca.

15 Ora, se il tuo fratello ha peccato contro a te, va e riprendilo fra te e lui solo; se egli ti ascolta, tu hai guadagnato il tuo fratello.

16 Ma, se non ti ascolta, prendi

6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

7 Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence

cometh!

8 Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.

9 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.

10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.

11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

12 How think ye? if a man have a hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?

13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.

14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

16 But if he will not hear thee,

17 E, s' egli disdegna di ascoltarli, dillo alla chiesa; e, se disdegna eziandio di ascoltar la chiesa, siati come il pagano, o il pubblicano.

18 Io vi dico in verità, che tutte le cose che voi avrete legate sopra la terra saranno legate nel cielo, e tutte le cose che avrete sciolte sopra la terra saranno sciolte nel cielo. 19 Oltre a ciò, io vi dico che, se due di voi consentono sopra la terra, intorno a qualunque cosa chiederanno, quella sarà lor fatta dal Padre mio, che è ne' cieli.

20 Perciocchè, dovunque due, o tre, son raunati nel nome mio, quivi son io nel mezzo di loro.

21 Allora Pietro, accostatoglisi, disse: Signore, quante volte, peccando il mio fratello contro a me, gli perdonerò io ? fino a sette volte? 22 Gesù gli disse: Io non ti dico fino a sette volte, ma fino a settanta volte sette.

23 Perciò, il regno de' cieli è assomigliato ad un re, il qual volle far ragione co' suoi servitori.

24 E, avendo cominciato a far ragione, gli fu presentato uno, ch' era debitore di diecimila talenti;

25 E, non avendo egli da pagare, il suo signore comandò ch' egli, e la sua moglie, e i suoi figliuoli, e tutto quanto avea, fosse venduto, e che il debito fosse pagato.

26 Laonde il servitore, gettatosi a terra, si prostese davanti a lui, dicendo: Signore, abbi pazienza inverso me, ed io ti pagherò tutto.

27 E il signor di quel servitore, mosso da compassione, lo lasciò andare, e gli rimise il debito.

28 Ma quel servitore, uscito fuori, trovò uno de' suoi conservi, il qual gli dovea cento denari: ed egli lo prese, e lo strangolava, dicendo: Pagami ciò che tu mi dei.

17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as a heathen man and a publican.

18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?

22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.

24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.

25 But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.

26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.

27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.

28 But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellow servants, which owed him a hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.

32 Allora il suo signore lo chiamò a sè, e gli disse: Malvagio servitore, io ti rimisi tutto quel debito, perciocchè tu me ne pregasti;

33 Non ti si conveniva egli altresì aver pietà del tuo conservo, siccome io ancora avea avuta pietà di te?

34 E il suo signore, adiratosi, lo diede in man de' sergenti, da martoriarlo, infino a tanto ch' egli avesse pagato tutto ciò che gli era dovuto.

35 Così ancora vi farà il vostro Padre celeste, se voi non rimettete di cuore ognuno al suo fratello i suoi falli.

CAPO 19.

29 And his fellow servant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.

30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.

31 So when his fellow servants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.

32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:

33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellow servant, even as I had pity on thee?

34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.

35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

CHAPTER 19.

questi ragionamenti, si dipartì di Galilea, e venne ne' confini della Giudea, lungo il Giordano.

2 E molte turbe lo seguitarono, ed egli li sanò quivi.

3 Ei Farisei si accostarono a lui, tentandolo, e dicendogli: È egli lecito all' uomo di mandar via la sua moglie per qualunque cagione? 4 Ed egli, rispondendo, disse loro: Non avete voi letto, che Colui, che da principio fece ogni cosa, fece gli uomini maschio e femmina?

5 E disse: Perciò, l' uomo lascerà il padre e la madre, e si congiugnerà con la sua moglie, e i due diverranno una stessa carne.

6 Talchè, non son più due, anzi una stessa carne; ciò, dunque, che Iddio ha congiunto, l' uomo nol separi.

7 Essi gli dissero: Perchè dunque comando Mosè che si desse la scritta

Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judea be-* yond Jordan;

2 And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there. 3 The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? 4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,

5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh ?

6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

7 They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a

9 Or io vi dico, che chiunque manda via la sua moglie, salvochè per cagion di fornicazione, e ne sposa un' altra, commette adulterio; e altresì, chi sposa colei che è mandata via, commette adulterio. 10 I suoi discepoli gli dissero: Se così sta l'affare dell' uomo con la moglie, non è ispediente maritarsi. 11 Ma egli disse loro: Non tutti son capaci di questa cosa che voi dite, ma sol coloro a cui è dato.

12 Perciocchè vi son degli eunuchi, i quali son nati così dal ventre della madre; e vi son degli eunuchi, i quali sono stati fatti eunuchi dagli uomini; e vi son degli eunuchi, i quali si son fatti eunuchi loro stessi per lo regno de' cieli. Chi può esser capace di queste cose, sialo.

13 Allora gli furono presentati de' piccioli fanciulli, acciocchè imponesse loro le mani, ed orasse; ma i discepoli sgridavano coloro che li presentavano.

14 Ma Gesù disse: Lasciate que' piccioli fanciulli, e non li divietate di venire a me; perciocchè di tali è il regno de' cieli.

15 E, imposte loro le mani, si partì di là.

16 Ed ecco, un certo, accostatosi, gli disse: Maestro buono, che bene farò io per aver la vita eterna?

17 Ed egli gli disse: Perchè mi chiami buono? niuno è buono, se non un solo, cioè: Iddio. Ora, se tu vuoi entrar nella vita, osserva i comandamenti.

18 Colui gli disse: Quali? E Gesù disse: Questi: Non uccidere. Non commettere adulterio. Non rubare. Non dir falsa testimonianza.

19 Onora tuo padre e tua madre, e ama il tuo prossimo come te stesso.

8 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it

was not so.

9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

10 His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.

11 But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.

12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it. 13 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray and the disciples rebuked them.

14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

15 And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.

16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
