Figliuol dell' uomo, nel cielo; allora ancora tutte le nazioni della terra faran cordoglio, e vedranno il Figliuol dell' uomo venir sopra le nuvole del cielo, con potenza, e gran gloria.

31 Ed egli manderà i suoi angeli, con tromba, e gran grido; ed essi raccoglieranno i suoi eletti da' quattro venti, dall' un de' capi del cielo infino all' altro.

32 Ora, imparate dal fico questa similitudine: Quando già i suoi rami sono in succhio, e le frondi germogliano, voi sapete che la state è vicina;

33 Così ancora voi, quando avrete vedute tutte queste cose, sappiate ch' egli è vicino, in su la porta. 34 Io vi dico in verità, che quest' età non passerà, finchè tutte queste cose non sieno avvenute.

35 Il cielo e la terra trapasseranno, ma le mie parole non trapasse

ranno.

36 Ma quant'è a quel giorno, e a quell' ora, niuno la sa, non pur gli angeli de' cieli; ma il mio Padre solo.

37 Ora, come erano i giorni di Noè, così ancora sarà la venuta del Figliuol dell' uomo.

38 Perciocchè, siccome gli uomini erano, a' dì che furono avanti il diluvio, mangiando, e bevendo, prendendo, e dando mogli, sino al giorno, che Noè entrò nell' arca;

39 E non si avvidero di nulla, finchè venne il diluvio e li portò tutti via; così ancora sarà la venuta del Figliuol dell' uomo.

40 Allora due saranno nella campagna; l'uno sarà preso, e l' altro lasciato.

41 Due donne macineranno nel mulino; l'una sarà presa, e l' altra lasciata.

42 Vegghiate adunque, perciocchè voi non sapete a qual ora il vostro Signore verrà.

43 Ma sappiate ciò, che se il padre di famiglia sapesse a qual vigilia della notte il ladro dee venire, egli vegghierebbe, e non lascerebbe sconficcar la sua casa.

of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. 32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

42 Watch therefore; for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

44 Perciò, voi ancora siate presti; perciocchè, nell' ora che non pensate, il Figliuol dell' uomo verrà. 45 Quale è pur quel servitor leale, ed avveduto, il quale il suo signore abbia costituito sopra i suoi famigliari, per dar loro il nutrimento al suo tempo?

46 Beato quel servitore, il quale il suo signore, quando egli verrà, troverà facendo così.

47 Io vi dico in verità, ch' egli lo costituirà sopra tutti i suoi beni.

48 Ma, se quel servitore essendo malvagio, dice nel cuor suo: I mio signore mette indugio a venire;

49 E prende a battere i suoi conservi, e a mangiare, ed a bere con gli ubbriachi;

50 Il signor di quel servitore verrà, nel giorno ch' egli non l'aspetta, e nell' ora ch' egli non sa;

51 E lo riciderà, e metterà la sua parte con gl' ipocriti. Ivi sarà il pianto, e lo stridor de' denti.

CAPO 25.

A simile a dieci vergini, le quali, prese le lor lampane, uscirono fuori incontro allo sposo.

2 Or cinque d'esse erano avvedute, e cinque pazze.

3 Le pazze, prendendo le lor lampane, non aveano preso seco delÏ' olio;

4 Ma l'avvedute aveano, insieme con le lor lampane, preso seco dell'olio ne' loro vasi.

5 Ora, tardando lo sposo, tutte divennero sonnacchiose, e si addormentarono.

6 E in su la mezza notte si fece un grido: Ecco, lo sposo viene, uscitegli incontro.

7 Allora tutte quelle vergini si destarono, e acconciarono le lor lampane.

8 E le pazze dissero alle avvedute: Dateci dell' olio vostro, perciocchè le nostre lampane si spengono.

44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

48 But and if that evil servant

shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;

49 And shall begin to smite his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

CHAPTER 25.

HEN shall the kingdom of THE heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him:

7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

9 Ma l'avvedute risposero, e dissero: Noi nol faremo; che talo- | ra non ve ne sia assai per noi, e per voi; andate più tosto a coloro che lo vendono, e compratene.

10 Ora, mentre quelle andavano a comprarne, venne lo sposo; e quelle ch' erano apparecchiate entrarono con lui nelle nozze; e la porta fu serrata.

11 Poi appresso, vennero anche l'altre vergini, dicendo: Signore, Signore, aprici.

12 Ma egli, rispondendo, disse: Io vi dico in verità, che io non vi

conosco.

13 Vegghiate adunque, conciossiachè non sappiate nè il giorno, nè l'ora, che il Figliuol dell' uomo verrà.

14 Perciocchè egli è come un uomo, il quale, andando fuori in viaggio, chiamò i suoi servitori, e diede loro in mano i suoi beni.

15 E all' uno diede cinque talenti, e all' altro due, e all' altro uno; a ciascuno secondo la sua capacità; e subito si partì.

16 Or colui che avea ricevuti cinque talenti andò, e trafficò con essi, e ne guadagnò altri cinque.

17 Parimente ancora colui che avea ricevuti i due ne guadagnò altri due.

18 Ma colui che ne avea ricevuto uno andò, e fece una buca in terra, e nascose i danari del suo signore. 19 Ora, lungo tempo appresso, venne il signore di que' servitori, e fece ragion con loro.

20 E colui che avea ricevuti i cinque talenti venne, e ne presentò altri cinque, dicendo: Signore, tu mi desti in mano cinque talenti; ecco, sopra quelli ne ho guadagnati altri cinque.

21 Eil suo signore gli disse: Bene sta, buono, e fedel servitore; tu sei stato leale in poca cosa; io ti costituirò sopra molte cose; entra nella gioia del tuo signore.

22 Poi, venne anche colui che

9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open

to us.

12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you

not.

13 Watch therefore; for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.

19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

22 He also that had received two

Signore, tu mi desti in mano due talenti; ecco, sopra quelli ne ho guadagnati altri due.

23 Il suo signore gli disse: Bene sta, buono, e fedel servitore; tu sei stato leale in poca cosa; io ti costituirò sopra molte cose; entra nella gioia del tuo signore.

24 Poi, venne ancora colui che avea ricevuto un sol talento, e disse: Signore, io conosceva che tu sei uomo aspro, che mieti ove non hai seminato, e ricogli ove non hai sparso;

25 Laonde io temetti, e andai, e nascosi il tuo talento in terra; ecco, tu hai il tuo.

26 E il suo signore, rispondendo, gli disse: Malvagio, e negligente servitore, tu sapevi che io mieto ove non ho seminato e ricolgo ove non ho sparso;

27 Perciò e' ti si conveniva mettere i miei danari in man di banchieri; e, quando io sarei venuto, avrei riscosso il mio con frutto.

28 Toglietegli adunque il talento, e datelo a colui che ha i dieci talenti;

29 (Perciocchè, a chiunque ha, sarà dato, ed egli soprabbonderà; ma chi non ha, eziandio quel ch' egli ha, gli sarà tolto;)

30 E cacciate il servitor disutile nelle tenebre di fuori. Ivi sarà il pianto, e lo stridor de' denti.

31 Ora, quando il Figliuol dell'uomo sarà venuto nella sua gloria, con tutti i santi angeli, allora egli sederà sopra il trono della sua gloria.

32 E tutte le genti saranno raunate davanti a lui; ed egli separerà gli uomini gli uni dagli altri, come il pastore separa le pecore da' capretti;

33 E metterà le pecore alla sua destra, e i capretti alla sinistra.

34 Allora il Re dirà a coloro che

24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strewed:

25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strewed:

27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
