PREFACE. THE two first of these sermons were preached in the School Chapel at Harrow; the first, shortly after its erection, the second, on the eve of the departure of many boys from the school for the Universities. The only excuse to be made for joining the others to them, is the desire which some of the author's friends expressed, at the time they were preached, that they should be printed. There is much in them both in thought and occasionally in expression for which he is indebted to others; he would especially mention the Sermons On the Church of God by the Rev. R. W. Evans, to whose instruction in other learning, as well as in spiritual knowledge, he cannot sufficiently express his obligations. Harrow, Dec. 1841. CONTENTS. Exodus xx. 12.
