CHAP. XI.

1 He reproveth them, because in holy assemblies 4 their men prayed with their heads covered, and 6 women with their heads uncovered, 17 and because generally their meetings were not for the better, but for the worse, as 21 namely in profaning with their own feasts the Lord's supper: 25 lastly, he calleth them to the first institution thereof. BE ye a followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

2 Now I praise 2 you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances,3 as I delivered them to you.

EPH. v. 22-24: Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the Church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the Church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. COL. iii. 18: Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. 1 TIм. ii. 11-13: Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man.-For Adam was first formed, then Eve. TIT. ii. 4, 5: That they teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. 1 PET. iii. 1, 5, 6: Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives. For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: even as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any

But when he saith-all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted which did put all things under him. And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God.

5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head for that is even all one as if she were ishaven.

6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the 'image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the
