26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the "washing of water by the word,

27 That he might present it to himself a glorious Church, 'not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing ; but that it should be holy and without blemish.18

28 So ought men 19 to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh ,20 but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the Church :

CHAP. VI. 1 The duty of children towards their parents, 5 of servants towards

CHILDREN, a obey your parents in the Lord : for this is right.

2 Honour thy father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise ;

Col. iii. 22 : Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singlenes's of heart, fearing God. 1 Tim. vi. 1, 2 : Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren ; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. Tit. ii. 9, 10: Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again ; not purloining, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. 1 Pet. ii. 18: Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
