1. "The Lord, the God of Glory, reigns,
In robes of majesty arrayed;

Or ere the heavens were spread abroad,
Thy awful throne was fixed above;
From everlasting thou art God.

3. "The swelling floods tumultuous rise,
Aloud the angry tempests roar,
Lift their proud billows to the skies,

And foam, and lash the trembling shore.

4. "The Lord, the mighty God, on high,
Controls the fiercely raging seas;
He speaks - and noise and tempests fly,
The waves sink down in gentle peace.

The moon takes up the wondrous tale,
And nightly, to the listening earth,
Repeats the story of her birth;-

4. "While all the stars that round her burn,
And all the planets, in their turn,
Confirm the tidings, as they roll,

And spread the truth from pole to pole.

5. "What though in solemn silence all
Move round this dark terrestrial ball-
What though nor real voice, nor sound
Amid their radiant orbs be found?-
