THE present volume contains all the historical works of Lord Bacon, and the principal of his moral works; only a few pieces which are no longer read being omitted. A companion volume, comprising a complete translation of the Instauratio Magna, of the nine books of De Augmentis Scientiarum, not hitherto given in any edition of his works, and the Novum Organum, fully illustrated with notes, will be found in the Philosophical Library.
