In Re Trolley Service on Respondent's Line from Allentown to Emaus.

COMPLAINT DOCKET NO. 1034.

Report and Order of the Commission.

BRECHT, Commissioner:

The Lehigh Valley Transit Company, respondent, owns and operates a system of street railways radiating from the city of Allentown in various directions. One of its divisions, known as the Emaus Division, extends from the said city in a southwesterly direction to the borough of Emaus a distance by the line of the railway of about six miles. Emaus has a population of approximately 4,500, and with the exception of the village of Mountainville, which has about 700 people, the line of the railway between Allentown and Emaus passes through a rural section chiefly agricultural in character. An hourly service is maintained on this division and in addition there are extra cars operated during the rush hours in the morning and evening for the accommodation of business men, laborers, and employes.

The complainant alleges that the service now furnished does not afford sufficient cars to accommodate the traffic on the line; that the car which left Allentown at 5.40 P. M., April 26, at 5.40 P. M., May 18, and at 6.15 P. M., June 19, 1916, carried in the order designated 123, 120 and 112 passengers; that he makes the
