CHAP. 445. AN ACT for the benefit of William Steel and Adaline Massy.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That the marriage contract heretofore existing between William Steel, and his wife Isabella Steel, so far as respects said William, is forever dissolved; and that he be, and is hereby restored to all the rights and privileges of an unmarried man.

SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That the marriage contract heretofore existing between David Massy and Adaline Massy, his wife, be, and the same is hereby dissolved, so far as relates to the said Adaline; and that she be restored to all the rights and privileges of an unmarried woman.

CHAP. 446.-AN ACT for the benefit of the Graud and Subordinate Lodges of the Independent order of Odd Fellows.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That Joseph Metcalf, John S. Thomas, Henry Woolford and A. W. R. Harris, shall be, and they are hereby authorized and empowered as Trustees, for the use and in the name of the Grand Lodge of the Independent order of Odd Fellows, at the city of Louisville, to raise money, by subscription or borrowing, to any amount, not exceeding twenty thousand dollars, and lay the same out in the purchase of a lot of ground in said city, and in the erection of a suitable building or buildings thereon, for the accommodation of said Grand Lodge, and such Subordinate Lodges of said order as are now in existence, or may be hereafter created in said city.

SEC. 2. CHAP. 447.-AN ACT to revive the act for the benefit of the heirs of Samuel
Shannon, deceased, approved 31st of January, 1833.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That the act, entitled, an act to amend the act, entitled, an act for the benefit of the heirs of Samuel Shannon, deceased, approved 31st of January, 1833, be revived and continued in force for the term of five years, and that Samuel Shannon be, and he is hereby appointed a commissioner in the place of Alexander Reed, and that all the authorities and powers given to the said Alexander Reed by the act to which the foregoing act is an amendment, be, and the same are hereby confered on said Shannon.

CHAP. 448.--AN ACT requiring sheep to be marked and branded in certain

cases.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That it shall hereafter be the duty of any individual who shall purchase sheep, with intent to drive the same for market, to cause to be placed upon some visible part of each and every one of said sheep so purchased, a brand of one or more letters or cross mark of tare or other material, so that the same may be plainly seen, before he or they shall remove the same from the place at which they were sold.

SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That if any person or persons shall hereafter fail or refuse to comply with the requisitions of failure to mark the foregoing section, he or they so offending, upon being duly or brand. convicted before any Justice of the Peace in this Commonwealth, or before any circuit court of this Commonwealth, upon presentment, shall be fined any sum not less than two nor exceeding ten dollars, for each and every sheep not so branded or marked.

CHAP. 449.-AN ACT supplemental to an act, entitled, an act to increase the amount of stock in the Maysville, Washington, Paris, and Lexington Turnpike Road Company, and authorizing the Board of Internal Improvement to subscribe, on the part of the State, for one half of said stock.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That the sixth section of the act to which this is a supplement, shall be, and is hereby amended so as to prohibit any portion of the dividends arising from the stock held by the State in the Maysville, Washington, Paris, and Lexington Turnpike Road Company, before the passage of the act to which this is a supplement, from being applied to the payment of interest, as authorized in said section, but nothing herein contained shall be so construed as to prevent the dividends arising from the additional stock on the part of the State, authorized by said act, or so much thereof as may be necessary, from being so applied.

CHAP. 451.-AN ACT to explain an act, entitled, an act better to protect the proprietors of Ferries across the Ohio river.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That the prohibitions contained in said act shall not be construed to extend to a distance further from any point at which a ferry is established in Jefferson county than one mile and a half in a direct line.

CHAP. 452.--AN ACT to invest in profitable stocks the surplus Revenue of the
United States, required to be deposited with the State of Kentucky.
SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Com-
monwealth of Kentucky, That the Governor of this Common-
wealth be, and he is hereby authorized and requested to sub-
scribe, on behalf of the Commonwealth, the five thousand
shares of stock in the Bank of Louisville, incorporated by an
act of Assembly, approved 22d February, 1833, reserved for
the State in the charter of said bank; and he is authorized
to agree with said bank to pay the whole amount there-
of out of the first moneys deposited with the Treasurer of
this Commonwealth, under the act of Congress authorizing the
Secretary of the Treasury of the United States to deposite the
surplus revenue with the several States, or to pay the same in
instalments, at the respective times the deposits shall be made
with the Treasurer of this Commonwealth, who is hereby au-
thorized and required to pay out of said surplus revenue, for
the said five thousand shares of stock; and should said stock
be paid for, as herein provided, the sale of five hundred thou
sand dollars of State bonds, authorized to be sold for that pur-
pose, shall not be made.

no bank or branch, and allow to said branch a reasonable share of capital; and on the Bank of Louisville, incorporated by an act of Assembly, approved, 2d February, 1833, agreeing to make one branch of said bank, as herein provided, and in consideration thereof, the charter of said bank shall be, and the same is hereby extended until the first day of January, 1858, and shall be so amended, that instead of the Commonwealth of Kentucky's voting on the stock of the State, as provided in the charter, the Governor of this Commonwealth shall, annually, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, appoint two Directors of said bank, who shall be stockholders to the same amount that the other stockholders of said bank are required to hold; and that the Legislature shall have the right to investigate the affairs of said bank, in the same manner they are authorized to investigate the affairs of the other banks; and on the Bank of Louisville, incorporated by an act of Assembly, approved, 2d February, 1833, establishing, within one year, one other branch of said bank south of the Kentucky river, at some suitable and convenient point where there is now no bank or branch, the charter of said bank shall be, and the same is hereby extended until the first day of January, 1865.
