The Descriptions, selected from articles contributed to the Encyclopædia Metropolitana, by JOHN FLINT SOUTH, Esq., F.L.S., J. E. GRAY, Esq., F L.S., J. F. STEPHENS, Esq., F.L.S., F.Z.S., and other eminent Naturalists. One volume, imperial 4to, bound in cloth.

The Engravings of objects of Natural History contained in the Encyclopædia Metropolitana, have long been held in esteem for their great beauty and accuracy. In the first edition of the Encyclopædia, the descriptions of the Animals were inconveniently scattered through the whole Miscellaneous Division of the work. They are now, for the first time, presented in the same volume with the Figures. It is proper to add, that though the arrangement is essentially that of Cuvier, many of the improvements of later Naturalists have been adopted.
