The first Sunday in Advent. MORNING. Isaiah i. Inick began to prophesy B.c. 760, and he prophesied for 60 years. The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah. * Well may the heavens and the earth Hear, 0 heavens, and give · be thus appealed to ! They, in their ear, ( earth: for the LORD courses, obey the word of Him who hath spoken, I have nou created them. Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth : they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear 15 Though faith without works be them. And when ye spread dead, yet the mere outward obserforth your hands, I will hide vance of religion can never commine eyes from you : yea, pensate for want of purity of heart. when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. None must deand let us reason together, spair. The blood of Christ cleanseth saith the Lord: though your from all sin. God allows that plea. The first sin was described as a wound, Gen. iii. 15.
