A. All mankind by their fall loft communion with God g,are under his wrath and curfe h, and so made liable to all miferies in this life to death itfelf, and to the pains of hell for ever i. 20. Did God leave all mankind to perish in the estate of fin and mifery?

A. God having out of his mere good pleasure from all eternity elected fome to everlasting life k, did enter into a covenant of grace, to deliver them out of the eftate of fin and mifery,and to bring them into an eftate of falvation by a Redeemer/. Q. 21. Who is the Redeemer of God's elect.

A. The only Redeemer of God's elect is the Lord Jefus Christ

all had our converfation in times paft, in the lufts of our flesh, fulfilling the defires of the flesh, and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. James i. 14. But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own luft, and enticed. v. 15. Then when luft hath conceived, it bringeth forth fin; and fin when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Mat. xv. 19. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, falfe-witnefs, blafphemies.

For as many as are of the works of the law, are under the curfe: for it is written, Curfed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

Lam. iii. 39. Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his fins? Rom. vi. 23. For the wages of fin is death: but the gift of God is eternal life, thro' Jefus Christ our Lord. Mat. xxv. 41. Then fhall he say unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye curfed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels. v. 46. And these fhall go away into everlafting punishment; but the righteous into life eternal.

But now the righteoufnefs of God without the law is manifested, being witneffed by the law and the prophets; v. 22. Even the righteoufness of God which is by faith of Jefus Chrift unto all, and upon all them that believe; for there is no difference. Gal. iii. 21. Is the law then against the promifes of God? God forbid for if there had been a Jaw given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. v. 22. But the fcripture hath concluded alt under fin, that the promise by faith in Jefus Chrift might be given to them that believe.

25. How doth Chrift execute the office of a priest?

A. Chrift executeth the office of a priest, in his once offer ing up of himself a facrifice to fatisfy divine juftice w, and reconcile us to God x, and making continual interceffion for us y. Q. 26. How doth Chrift execute the office of a king?

A. Chrift executeth the office of a king, in fubduing us to himself z, in ruling a, and defending us b, and in reftraining

Q. 28. Wherein confifleth Chrift's exaltation?

A. Chrift's exaltation confifteth in his rifing again from the dead

fhall reign in righteoufnefs, and princes fhall rule in judgment, v. 2. And a man fhall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempeft; as rivers of waters in a dry place, as the fhadow of a great rock in a weary land.
