7. Who stilleth the raging of the sea and the noise of his waves, and the madness of the people.

8. They also that dwell in the uttermost parts of the earth shall be afraid at Thy tokens: Thou That makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to praise Thee.

9. Thou visitest the earth, and blessest it: Thou makest it very plenteous.

10. The river of God is full of water: Thou preparest their corn, for so Thou providest for the earth.

11. Thou waterest her furrows, Thou sendest rain into the little valleys thereof: Thou makest it soft with the drops of rain, and blessest the increase of it.

12. Thou crownest the year with Thy goodness; and Thy clouds drop fatness.

13. They shall drop upon the dwellings of the wilderness: and the little hills shall rejoice on every side.

14. The folds shall be full of sheep: the valleys also shall stand so thick with corn, that they shall laugh and sing.

Glory be to the Father, &c. Antiphon. Thou, O God, art praised in Sion.

Antiphon. My lips shall praise. Psalm lxiii. Deus, Deus meus, & Psalm lxvii. Deus misereatur. As in Sunday Lauds, p. cviii. Antiphon. My lips shall praise Thee as long as I live.

Antiphon. The Lord shall judge.

The Song of Hannah, Exultavit cor meum, 1 Sam. ii. 1.

1. My heart rejoiceth in the Lord : mine horn is exalted in the Lord.

My mouth is enlarged over mine enemies because I rejoice in Thy Salvation.

For the Lord is a God of knowledge and by Him actions are weighed.

4. The bows of the mighty men are broken and they that stumbled are girded with strength.

5. They that were full have hired out themselves for bread: and they that were hungry ceased.

So that the barren hath born seven and she that hath many children is waxed feeble.

6. The Lord killeth and maketh alive: He bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.

7. The Lord maketh poor and maketh rich, He bringeth low and lifteth up: He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill.

8. To set them among princes: and to make them inherit the throne of glory.

For the pillars of the Earth are the Lord's and He hath set the world upon them.

9. He will keep the feet of His Saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness: for by strength shall no man prevail.

10. The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken in pieces: out of heaven shall He thunder upon them.

The Lord shall judge the ends of the earth; and He shall give strength unto His King: and exalt the horn of His Anointed.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;

The Chapter, 1 Cor. xvi. 13, 14. Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. Let all your things be done with Charity. R. Thanks be to God. 2. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever the earth and the world were made: Thou art God from everlasting, and world without

4. For a thousand years in Thy sight are but as yesterday : seeing that is past as a watch in the night.

10. The days of our age are threescore years and ten; and though men be so strong that they come to fourscore years: yet is their strength then but labour and sorrow; so soon passeth it away, and we are gone.

11. But who regardeth the power of Thy Wrath: for even thereafter

The Song of Moses, Cantemus Domino,
Exodus xv. 1.

1. I will sing unto the Lord, for He hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath He thrown into the sea.

2. The Lord is my Strength and my Song: and is become my Salvation.

He is my God, and I will prepare Him an habitation: my father's God, and I will exalt Him.

3. The Lord is a Man of war: the Lord is His Name.

8. And with the blast of Thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the flood stood upright as an heap and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.

9. The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.

10. Thou didst blow with Thy Wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the mighty waters.

11. Who is like unto Thee, O Lord, among the gods: who is like Thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders ?

12. Thou stretchedst out Thy Right Hand: the earth swallowed them.

13. Thou in Thy mercy hast led forth the people which Thou hast Redeemed: Thou hast guided them in Thy strength, unto Thy holy ha

14. The people shall hear, and be afraid sorrow shall take hold of the inhabitants of Palestina.

15. Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away.

16. Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of Thine Arm

they shall be as still as a stone: till Thy people pass over, O Lord, till the people pass over, which Thou hast purchased.

17. Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the Mountain of Thine inheritance: in the Place, O Lord, which Thou hast made for Thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O Lord, which Thy Hands have established.

18. The Lord shall reign: for ever and ever.

19. For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the Lord brought again the waters of the sea upon them: but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;

Benedictus, St. Luke i. 68. Antiphon. Let us serve the Lord in holiness and righteousness before Him and He shall deliver us out of the hand of our enemies.
