When the Service of the next day is

that of the Sunday, this Chapter is said at the Saturday Vespers, (1.) from Epiphany to Septuagesima; (2.) from Trinity to Advent.

Hymn for Saturdays, from Epiphany to the First Sunday in Lent.

Deus Creator omnium. MAKER of all things, God most High, Great Framer of the starry sky; That rob'st the day in beauteous light, In sweet repose the quiet night. May sleep our tirèd limbs restore, And fit for toil and use once more; Relieve our cares, and soothe our breast, And lull our anxious griefs to rest. We thank Thee for the day that's gone; We pray Thee now the night comes on, Help us poor sinners as we raise Th' accustom'd offering of praise. To Thee our hearts their musick bring, Thee our united voices sing; To Thee our pure affections soar, Thee may our chasten'd souls adore.

So when the deep'ning shades prevail, And night o'er day hath dropp'd her veil,

Faith may no wildering darkness know, But night with Faith's own radiance glow.

From Trinity to Advent, on Saturdays at Vespers is said the Hymn,

O lux beata Trinitas.

O TRINITY of blessed light,
O UNITY of princely might,
The fiery sun now goes his way:

Whilst sleepless Thou dost keep the Shed Thou within our hearts Thy ray.

mind,

Our sins in sleep for ever bind;
Let faith our chastity renew,

And check our sleep's lethargic dew.

From every wrongful passion free,
Our inmost hearts make sleep in Thee,
Nor let the fiend with envious snare
Our rest with sinful terrors scare.

CHRIST, with the FATHER ever one!
SPIRIT, of FATHER and of SON;
GOD over all, of mighty sway,-
Shield us, great TRINITY, we pray.
Amen.

V. Let our evening prayer come up before Thee, O Lord.

Ry. And let Thy mercy come down

on us.

To Thee our morning song of praise,
To Thee our evening prayer we raise;
Thy glory suppliant we adore
For ever and for evermore.

All laud to GOD the FATHER be;
All praise, Eternal SON, to Thee;
All praise for ever, as is meet,
To GOD the HOLY PARACLETE. Amen.

V. Let our evening prayer come up before Thee, O Lord.

Ry. And let Thy mercy come down

on us.
