come to pafs in the last day, when the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the moun. tains, and shall be exalted above the hills; then says the prophet, “ All nations shall flow unto it.” This means the time when the nations shall go up from year to year to worship the king. It is declared that ALL nations shall flow unto the mountain of the Lord's house, and that they shall go to be taught of the Lord, and to hear the law and word which shall go forth from him to all the nations of the earth..

This fame general meeting of all nations, is mentioned in Isaiah lxvi. 18, 19, 20, “ It shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues ; and they shall come and see my glory." Here we are told that all nations shall come and see the glory of the Lord. This great meet. ing of the nations, is mentioned in Zechariah viii. 20, -21, 22, 23, “ Thus faith the Lord of hosts, it shall yet come to pafs, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities, and the inhabitants of one city shall go to a. nother, saying, let us go fpeedily to pray before the Lord, and to seek the Lord of hosts ; I will go also; yea, mamany people and strong nations shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the Lord. Thus faith the Lord of hosts, in those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, we will go with you; for we have heard that God is with you."

How can any thinking person read this prophecy, and doubt that there will be a time when all nations will af. semble at Jerusalem to worship the king, the Lord of hosts? It is particularly mentioned that the inhabitants of many cities shall go to pray before the Lord ; that many people and strong antions shall seek the Lord in Jerusalem ; and that men out of all languages shall even take hold of the skirt of the Jew, saying, we will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you. To spiritualize this, or make it mean what it does not say, is folly in the extreme.

$1" It may be said by fome, that though these prophecies - speak of a general gathering of all nations in Jerusalem; 9 yet they do not mention that they shall meet from year elito year. True, these places do not ; but there is one is that does, Zechariah xiv. 16, “ And it shall come to z pass, that every one that is left, of all the nations which I came against Jerusalem, fhall even go up from year to

year to worship the king, the Lord of hosts, and to keep **the feast of tabernacles." · In the first part of this chapter, we are told of the

great army gathered out of all nations, to fight against Jerusalem, and how the Lord Jesus will cut them off when his feet stand on the mount of Olives. We are al. *fo told of the plague that shall be on man and beast.

See verse 2, 3, 4, 12, 15. All this is to take place when Christ comes to reign upon the earth. By reading the 16th verse, it is plain that a great part of the nations will be cut off in this dreadful battle. In this verse we are told in plain words, that those who are left of the na. "tions that were destroyed shall go up from year to year to Jerusalem, to worship that Lord (who cut off their relations when they went to make war with the Jews in 'the land of Canaan ;) and to keep the feast of taberna

cles. If this place does not mean as it says, the prophecies are an imposition. S, The judgments which will come on the nations, which

shall refuse to go up to Jerusalem, from year to year, prove that such a time will come when all nations will really meet from year to year in Jerusalem. It is said that the nation that shall refuse to go up, shall be deprived of rain, which will certainly cause a famine. See verse 17.“ And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth, unto Jerusalem to wor. Thip the king, the Lord of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain."

This verfe shows that fuch a meeting is really meant, * as is ftated in verse 16." Though this would be a great

judgment on the nations in general; yet this would be no punishment on the inhabitants of Egypt, for they do not depend on the rain, (for they have none) but on the

river Nile, which annually overflows its banks, by whicke the earth is watered. This circumstance is particularly noticed by the prophet, as it respects the Egyptians, Verse 18, 19, “ And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain, there shall be the plague wherewith the Lord will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all na. tions, that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.” If scripture declarations are any proof of these great annual meetings, I am sure that these must be sufficient to convince every candid enquirer after truth. .

Many people when they hear of such things as these, object againit them because they do not see how they can be’accomplished; but remember he that has faid, will do it, and he that has promised, will perform. Whoever looks upon the maps of the world, and views the situa. tion of Jerusalem, may soon be convinced that it is pos. fible for people to meet at Jerusalem from all parts of the world where men live; for Jerusalem is situated in the midst of the nations round about. Ezekiel v. 5, “ Thus faith the Lord, this is Jerusalem; I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries that are round about her.” According to the maps, there is a communication from every part of the world. The Mediterranean sea is the western boundary of the land of Canaan, and on the opposite fide is the red sea, which is an arm of the western ocean, and the surrounding oceans seem almost to meet at Jerusalem, and this tells us how easily all nations by sea and land may meet at Jerusalem, when the Lord Jesus reigns there as king over the whole earth.

Many things more might be said ; but, this I think is sufficient to convince the reader of the fact stated in the first proposition, viz, that when Christ reigns on the earth a thousand years, all nations will meet there from year te year, during one thousand years.

“O glorious hour, blessed day;
What a large victory shall ensue,
And converts who thy grace obey,
Exceed the drops of morning dew.".

I now proceed to the second particular, viz ; 2. The design of this meeting, or what it is for. :: Such a meeting as this, must be for something of great importance to those who meet, and to those on whole account they meet. - There are several things which will be of importance, to those who meet, and to others who do not attend the great yearly meeting at Jerusalem.

1. The first thing of importance, in going up to Jerufalem from year to year, will be to see the city, Jerusa. lem, when it is rebuilt, and the holy house which shall be built in the city.

Where is the Jew or Gentile who would not now wish to fee Jerusalem, though almost in ruins? How would a believer in Jesus be gratified to see the place where his Lord was crucified, and where he lay in the new tomb, which is now shewn to travellers? But to see the city when it is rebuilt, and the holy house far exceeding that built by Solomon, how delightful must the fight be! Each one at this fight muft fay, " Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth is mount Zion; on the sides of the north, the city of the great King ; God is known a in her palaces for a refuge." * At that time when the nations are gathered, it wiil be faid by them,—"As we have heard, fo have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God; God will establish it forever. We have thought of thy loving kindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple. According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth; thy right hand is full of righteousness." 3. It is impossible to describe the pleasure this city and temple must afford all the friends of Christ, when they see the city they have so often heard of, especially when in addition to all this, they shall see the king in his beauty * 2. Another thing to be attended to, in going to this great yearly meeting, will be to see the raised saints, who will then be with Christ in Jerusalem ; the apostles being twelve kings, on twelve thrones, judging the twelve

tribes of Ifrael. What a fight will this be, when they Thall come from the east, west, north and south, and set down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom, • with all the prophets, and all that were beheaded for the word of God and the testimony of Jesus, when they shall reign with him a THOUSAND YEARS!

3. Another thing peculiar to this yearly meeting will be, to meet their brethren from every part of the world, to hear and know the general state of the kingdom which. will then fill the whole earth. ..

An annual meeting now, of brethren'who meet from a few miles distance, affords great joy, when they meet in love ; but what is all this to a meeting of brethren from all nations under heaven, whose hearts are filled with love to Christ, and all his subjects! The very thought of fuch a meeting affords joy; but, O! the joy such a meeting must afford to all who are favoured with the privilege of standing within the gates of Jerusalem in that day!

4. Another thing peculiar to that great meeting, will be to see the King who will then reign over all the earth. ,

There is no doubt in my mind, but that they will see the accomplishment of what is written in Isaiah xxxiii. IR 19, 20, 21, 22, 24-" Thinc eyes shall see the king in his beauty. They shall behold the land that is very far off ; thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a. deeper speech that thou canst not perceive; of a ftammering tongue that thou canst not understand. Look upon Zion, the city of our folemnities"; thine eyes shall fee Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords thereof. be broken ; but there the glorious Lord will be unto us a place of broad rivers and streams; wherein shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby;. for the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; he will save us. And the inhabitants shall not say, I am sick; the people that dwell, therein shall be forgiven their iniquities,”
