NOT BECOME LAW.

(Note With certain exceptions, which are specially mentioned, these Bills were introduced into the House of Commons. Of the members responsible for bringing in a Bill the name of the first only is given. Where nothing is said as to its progress the Bill did not reach the stage of second reading.)

ADVERTISEMENTS REGULATION BILL."TO authorise local authorities to make byelaws respecting the exhibition of advertisements."- Mr. Hart Davies.

AGED PENSIONERS BILL."To provide pensions for the aged deserving poor.”—Mr. Samuel Roberts. This Bill was identical with the following one.

Withdrawn before second reading.

AGED PENSIONERS (No. 2) BILL"To provide pensions for the aged deserving poor."-Mr Samuel Roberts. The local pensions committee were to consist of persons nominated in equal proportions by the borough or district council, the board of guardians, and registered friendly societies. A grant of £2,000,000 was to be distributed by the Treasury, and contributions from the local rate were not to exceed amount of grant allotted to a pensions committee.

AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS BILL. “To promote agricultural education and nature study in public elementary schools."--Mr. Jesse Collings.

AGRICULTURAL HOLDINGS BILL.-"To amend the Agricultural Holdings Acts, and to make other provisions as to the tenure of agricultural land."-Mr. Channing. Among other provisions, parish councils and district councils were to appoint parish valuers for allotments or holdings of less than 50 acres.

ARCHITECTS' REGISTRATION BILL.-"To provide for the Registration of Architects."-Mr. Atherley Jones. Under the Bill district councils and other local authorities were not to appoint any unregistered person to prepare or examine plans or report upon the erection of buildings.

CLERKS OF THE PEACE AND COUNTY COUNCILS BILL. "To amend the law with regard to clerks of the peace and clerks of county councils."-Mr, Luttrell. The Bill dealt with the appointment and duties of those officers and of deputies.

DEPUTY CLERKS OF THE PEACE BILL.-"To make better provision for the appointment of deputy clerks of the peace in municipal boroughs."-Sir James Woodhouse.

EDUCATION ACTS AMENDMent Bill.—“ To amend the Education Acts, 1870 to 1903."-Sir John Brunner. The Bill dealt with the attendance at public elementary schools and continuation schools or classes.

EDUCATION AUTHORITIES (ACCESS TO BOOKS AND DOCUMENTS) BILL," To enable ratepayers to inspect the books and documents of local education authorities "-Dr. Macnamara.

EDUCATION OF THE BLIND BILL.-"To provide for the technical education, employment, and maintenance of the blind.”—Mr. Steadman. County and borough councils were to execute the

Bill.

EDUCATION (CONSOLIDATION) BILL.-"To consolidate the Education Acts."-Mr. Birrell.

Withdrawn before second reading.

EDUCATION (ENGLAND AND WALES) BILL.-"To make further provision with respect to education in England and Wales.”Mr. Birrell.

Commons did not agree to Lords amendments.

ELECTIONS (MEETINGS IN SCHOOLROOMS) BILL." For granting the use of schoolrooms for public meetings."-Presented in the Lords by Lord Burghclere. The meetings referred to were for purposes of candidature for Parliament and local authorities.

Passed and sent to the Commons where it was read a first time.

ELEMENTARY EDUCATION BILL.-"To provide secular education, periodical medical examination of, and food for children attending State-supported schools."-Mr. Thorne.

EXPLOSIVES BILL.—“To amend the Explosives Act, 1875."— Sir H. Vincent.

FACTORY AND WORKSHOP BILL.

"To amend the Factory and Workshop Act, 1901."-Mr. Tennant. Numerous amendments of the law were proposed by the Bill.
