of Covington, as provided by the sixteenth section of an act of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky amending the charter of the city of Covington, approved March 9th, 1868.

§ 2. All acts and parts of acts of the General Assembly in conflict with the provisions of this act are hereby repealed. §3. This act shall be in force from and after its passage. Approved February 10, 1880.

CHAPTER 187.

AN ACT to incorporate the Beech Grove Sunday School Union, of Campbell

county.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth

of Kentucky:

§ 1. That W. H. Kinney, D. Pollock, J. A. Jolly, Joseph Corperators. White, and J. C. Demoss, their successors and associates, be, and they are hereby, constituted a body-corporate, under the name and style of the Beech Grove Sunday School Union, of Name. Campbell county; and by that name shall have power to contract and be contracted with, sue and be sued; may use a common seal; make all necessary by-laws, rules and regulations for its government not contrary to the general laws of Kentucky, and do such other things as are incident to such a corporation, and necessary to effect the object and purpose thereof, Objects of carpowhich is to provide for the holding of Sunday schools, Sunday school celebrations, picnics, etc., in the interest of the Sunday schools composing the union.

§ 2. Said corporators or their successors may create a capital stock, if they see proper, of not exceeding five hundred dollars, in shares of not less than ten cents nor greater than six dollars each.

§3. This act shall take effect from its passage.

CHAPTER 188.

AN ACT for the benefit of Michael Popp.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

§1. That there be, and is hereby, appropriated, out of any

money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of $500, for the arrest and delivery of Peter Klein, charged with the rape of Carrie Truesdale, of Campbell county, and the Auditor of State is hereby directed to issue his warrant upon the Treasurer for said amount, payable to said Michael Popp in consideration of the above services.

§ 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 189.

AN ACT to legalize the orders of the Oldham county court of claims. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

§ 1. That the order of the Oldham county court of claims, entered on the 20th day of May, 1879, levying a tax of twenty cents on each one hundred dollars of taxable property in said county, be, and the same is hereby, legalized and made binding on all persons and corporations owning or holding property in said county, and the sheriff of said county is hereby authorized and empowered to collect said tax as is directed by law for the collection of the county levy, and will account for same as such.

§ 2. This act shall take effect from its passage.

AN ACT to incorporate the Grand View Cemetery Company, in Campbell

county.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

§ 1. That J. M. Morgan, J. C. Demoss, J. G. Thorn, J. M. Jolly, David Pollock, J. F. Shaw, Joseph White, John D. Ellis, J. A. Jolly, and Peter Mains, their successors and associates, be, and they are hereby, constituted a body corporate, under the name and style of "The Grand View Cemetery Company," and by that name shall have power to contract, and be contracted with, sue and be sued, use a common seal

CHAPTER 192.

AN ACT for the benefit of the jailers of Wolfe and Menifee counties. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

1. That the jailers of the counties of Wolfe and Menifee may hereafter, by consent of the county court, appoint deputies, who shall have the same powers and be under same liabilities as their principals.

§ 2. The jailers of each of said counties shall be liable on their official bond, for all acts of their deputies.

§3. This act shall take effect from its passage.

CHAPTER 194.

AN ACT to prevent the sale of intoxicating liquors within three miles of Palestine Church and school-house, in Henry county.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

§ 1. That it shall be unlawful to sell, give, or furnish, in any way or quantity, any intoxicating liquors of any kind to any person within three miles of Palestine Church and schoolhouse, in Henry county; and any person so offending shall be liable to a fine of not less than ten dollars nor more than fifty dollars.

§ 2. This act shall take effect from its passage; and all laws contrary hereto are hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 195.

AN ACT to regulate the sale of liquors in Millerstown, Kentucky. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

§ 1. That hereafter it shall be unlawful for the county judge of Grayson county to grant a license to any one to sell spirituous, vinous, or malt liquors in the town of Millerstown, in Grayson county, until after the first day of September, 1880: Provided, however, That this act shall not interfere or prevent the qualified voters of said town from taking a vote at the August election in 1880 regulating the sale of liquors there in, under the provisions of what is known as the local option. law of this Commonwealth, approved January 26, 1874; and after said vote shall have been taken, then the sale of such liquors shall be regulated according to the result of said vote. §2. This act shall be in force from its passage.

CHAPTER 197.

AN ACT empowering and authorizing the county court of Grant county to take charge of that portion of the Covington and Lexington turnpike road in said county.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

§ 1. That it shall and may be lawful for the county court

of Grant county to take charge of all that portion of the Covington and Lexington Turnpike road within said county, and divide the same into road precincts, appoint surveyors, and to do and perform all other acts necessary and proper to be done for the proper management and keeping same in repair, as is now required by law in regard to other public roads in said county.

$2. This act to be in force from and after its passage. Approved February 10, 1880.

CHAPTER 198.

AN ACT to amend the charter of Slaughtersville, Webster county, approved

March 23, 1871.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth

of Kentucky:

§1. That the boundary line of the town of Slaughtersville, Boundary defiain Webster county, be, and is hereby, extended on the north side of said town as follows: Beginning in corporation line north and opposite W. R. Parker, and running with the old Whitsell dowery line to Nelson Hobgood's, so as to include him; thence east to the railroad on the east side of said town, so as to include Brown Armstrong and F. B. Ashby; thence south with the railroad to the incorporated line: Provided, That none of the farming land mentioned in this boundary shall be taxed by the trustees of said town for any town improvements whatever. The citizens within said boundary shall be subject to all laws and by-laws of said town.

That the trustees of said town shall have power to grant coffee house license in said town where ardent spirits may be retailed: Provided, however, Before any such license shall be granted, the applicant shall pay the State tax and execute bond in the county court as now required by law. $3. That the trustees of said town, and their successors, Trustees may tax shall have power to tax annually such coffee-houses, and all liquor retailers. others retailing liquors in less quantity than a quart within said town, or within one mile from its incorporated limits, a sum not less than fifty nor more than two hundred dollars, and all others retailing liquors in quantities of a quart or more than a quart shall pay a license, the sum not less than twenty five nor more than one hundred dollars per annum : Provided, That if any druggist, or other person wishing to sell
