In this edition are incorporated the notes of D'Orville, now first printed from an interleaved copy of Scapula in the British Museum-the choicest authorities from Scott's Appendix to Stephens' Thesaurus-and the Appendix to Scapula published by Doctor Burney from a MS. in the possession of Doctor Askew. The treatise by Ammonius, together with the Opuscula of other Grammarians (never before appended to Scapula), are taken from the edition by Valckenaer, Lugd. Bat. 1739.-and the Etymologicum Linguæ Græcæ of Lennep, as edited by Scheid, has been substituted in place of the Lexicon Etymologicum Lingue Graca of Harmar. Two treatises on Accents are added, the one usually appended to Vigerus, the other by Lambert Bos. In other respects the Elzevir edition of 1652 has been followed implicitly.
