Reverend, and dear Brethren;

INCE we are under the highest Obligation, as Minifters and Stewards of Christ, faithfully to discharge in our own Perfons, and to labour with our utmost diligence, that all others may so discharge fo the Duties of the Chriftian Religion, as well fuch as concern the Faith once delivered to the Saints, as thofe which more immediately relate to Practice; I fhall defire leave under both thefe Heads to lay before you, with all the Brevity and Plainness I am able, a few things, which feem, at this time more especially, to call for your serious Attention.

I. To begin with Faith, the Foundation of all other Chriftian Duties. You cannot be ignorant, what Attempts have lately been made, and are still daily farther advancing, to destroy some of the principal Doctrines, not of ours only, but, of the Catholick Church in all Ages; and, I wish, I could not fay, to weaken and undermine all the reft: These things have not been done in a Corner.
