AND I believe in the Holy-ghoft [Mat. 7. xxviii. 18, 19, 20. manifefted vifibly to the vifible church by vifible powers conferr'd on its governors in promoting an outwardly holylife, 1 Cor. xii. 1-4-7-11-28. Eph. iv, 11, 12, alfo manifefted to the invifible church or ftate of the Faithful in the inward kingdom of God by invifible powers, gifts and graces (1 Cor. xii. I acknowledge one baptifm for the remiffion of fins [outward evil habits by cleanfing water-diffolvent (i. e. accompanied with purific laws) in the vifible church; inward evil-habits by the Holyghoft and by fire in the invifible-church or itate of the Faithful; Mat. iii. 11, 12. Heb. 11. 2], and I look for the refurrection of the dead [the firft refurrection, being that in the vifible church: the 2d refurrection, being that in the invifible. The first refurrection is into the ftate of the Faithful, from Deluvian-baptifmal death of Catechumen-penitent. The fecond refurrection, into the perfect-ftate; from fire-baptifmal-death of faithful penitent, by fpiritual circumcifion (Gen. xvii. 1— 5-14. xix. 24. A Com

Comparison between the APOSTLES and
NICENE-CREEDS.

EPH. ii. 20. And are built [unto an holy temple in the Lord, for the habitation of God thro' the fpirit. 21, 22] upon the foundation of the Apostles [in the Catechumen-ftate inftructed by the Apoftles-creed] and prophets [interpreting the inward fpiritual meaning of the elemental typic inftruction convey'd in the Apoftles-creed for regulation of the outward chriftian-life. This prophetic-interpretation is fumm'd up in the Nicene-creed for the use of the Faithful] Jesus-Chrift himself being the chief corner-ftone [as explain'd in the Athanafian-creed, for the use of the perfect].

THE Apoftles were ambaffadors from Chrift; directed to the outward polity or form of life, the Catechumen-state [Luk, ix. 2—6. X. I—5— 8-9-16. Mat. x. 1-7-14-23—40—42]. The prophets, directed to the inward polity or form of life or ftate of the faithful [Mat. x. 41. 1 Cor. xiv, 1—3—5—22—24—26—29— 31-37-39]. Chrift, in his own perfon; directed to the perfect [Mat. v. 48].

THE diftinction between the uses of the Apostles and Nicene-creeds will be better understood from the following obfervations. The Nicene-creed leads us more openly or explicitely into the 2d. or paradifiacal heaven (the state of the Abrahamic faithful), by adding to the 2d. article of the Apoftles-creed [and of all things vifible and invisible]; thereby directing us to carry every article of the Apoftles-creed (liteE 2

rally belonging to the vifible church on earth or the ft, and incarnate heaven), by just analogy, into the Abrahamic (Luk. xvi. 22.) invifible-church belonging to the intermediate-ftate between death and the refurrection; [which, by the Athanafian creed, is carried into the 3d. heaven (2 Cor. xii. 2-4) or that of the immortals in the poft-refurrection-ftate of the perfect now invifible to mortal eyes, out of the 2d. or Abrahamic-heaven parted from it by the veil of the temple typical, until the rending of that veil by Christ's death: Mat. xxvii. 50-53. Heb. x. 1-10-16—19, 20]. fuitably to this intention; is added to the 3d. Article of the Apof tles-creed (begotten of his Father before all worlds, God of God, light of light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one fubftance with the Father, by whom all things were made: who for us men and for our falvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate by [inftead of; conceived by] the Holy-ghoft, &c. and was made man); in the 4th. article, the descent into Hades is omitted in the Nicene-creed; in the 5th article, is added in the Nicene-creed (according to the fcriptures), inftead of (from the dead); and (of the Father) inftead of (God the Father-almighty); in the. 6th. article (with glory) and (whofe kingdom fhall have no end); in the 7th. article, (the Lord and giver of life, who proceedeth from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, who fpake by the prophets); in the 8th. article, (one apoftolic), instead of (holy); the 9th, article of the Apostles-creed, is omitted in the Nicene creed, for there is no property in the invifiblechurch; in the 10th, article, (one baptism); in
