5 tj Thus faith the Lord God; This ir Jerusalem: I have set it in the midst os the nations and countries that are round about her.

6 And Ihe hath changed my judgements into wickedness more than the nations, and my statutes more than the countries that are round about her: for they have refused my judgements and my statutes, they have not walked in them.

7 Therefore thus faith the Lord God; Because ye multiplied more than the nations that are round about you, and have not walked in my statutes, neither have kept my judgements, neither have dons according to the judgements of the nations that are round about you;

g Therefore thus faith the Lord God; Behold, I, even I, am against thee, and will execute judgements in the midst of thee in the fight of the nations.

9 And I will do in thee that which I have not done, and whereunto I will not do any more the like, because of all thine abominations.

10 Therefore the fathers shall eat the sons in the midst of thee, and the sons shall eat their fathers; and I will execute judgements in thee, and the whole remnant of thee will I scatter into all the winds.

11 Wherefore, as 1 live, faith the Lord God; Surely, because thou hast defiled my sanctuary with all thy detestable things, and with all thine abomination*, therefore will I also diminish thee;. neither shall mine eye spare, neither will I have any pity.

13 Thus shall mine anger be accomplished, and I will cause my fury to rest upon them, and I will be comforted: and they shall know that I the Lo R D have spoken it in my zeal, when I have accomplished my fury in them.

14 Moreover I will make thee waste, and a reproach among the nations that are round about thee, in the fight of all that pass by.

15 60 it shall be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment unto the nations that are round about thee, when I (hall execute judgements in thee in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I the Lord have spoken it.

Israel's final desolation. EZEKIEL

8 fl Yet will I leave a remnant, that ye may have some that (hall elcape the sword among the nations, when ye (hall be scattered through the countries.

9 And they that escape of you (hall remember me among the nations whither they (hall be carried captives, because I am broken with their whoristi heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes, which go a whoring after their idols: and they sliall lothe themselves for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations.

10 And they sliall know that I am the Lord, and that I have not (aid in vain that I would do this evil unto them.

11 *\ Thus laith the Lord God ; Smite with thine hand, and damp with thy foot, and fay, Alas for all the evil abominations of the house of Israel! for they (hall fall by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence.

ii He that is far otf sliall die of the pestilence; and he that is near (hall fall by the (word; and he that remaineth and is besieged (hall die' by the famine: thus will I accompliih iny fury upon them.

• 13 Then sliall ye know that I am the Lord, when their slain men mail be among their idols round about their altars, upon every high hill, in all the tops of the mountains, and under every green tree, and under every thick oak, the place where they did offer sweet favour to all their idols.

14 So will I stretch out my hand upon them, and make the land desolate, yea, more delolate than the wilderness toward Diblath, in all their habitations: and they iha.ll know that I am the Lord.

10 Behold the day, behold, it is come: the morning is gone forth; the rod hath bloslbmed, pride hath budded.

11 Violence is risen up into a rod ot" wickedness: none of them shall remain* nor of their multitude, nor of any of their's: neither shall there be wailing for them.

11 The time is come, the day draweth near: let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn: for wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.

13 For the seller (hall not return to that which is (old, although they were yet alive: for the vision is touching the whole multitude thereof, which (hall not return: neither (hall any strengthen himself in the iniquity of his life.

VIII. 1 Ezehiefs "vision of jealousy. 7 The chambers 0) imagery.

AND it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth t'.r.y of the month, as I fat in mine house, and the ciders of Judah fat before me, that the hand of the Lord God fell there upon me.

2 Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, tire; and from his loins' even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber.

1 And he put forth the form of-an hand, and took me by a lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looketh toward the north; where it/as the seat of the image of jealousy, "which provoketh to jealousy.

4 And, behold, the glory of the God

os Israel was there, according to the vision that I saw in the plain.

5Then said he unto me, Son of man, lift Up thine eyes now the way toward the north. So I lifted up mine eyes the way toward the north, and behold northward at the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry.

6 He said furthermore unto me, Son of man, seest thou what they do? even the great abominations that the houle of Israel committeth here, that I should go far oft" from my sanctuary? but turn thee yet again, and thou shait see greater v abominations.

7 f[ And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold, a hole in the wall.

8 Then said he unto me, Son os man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door.

9 And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here.

10 So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the wall round about.

11 And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand: and a thick cloud of incense went up.

12 Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery ? for they fay, The Lord seethusnot; the Lord hath forsaken the earth.

13 He said also unto me, Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations that they do.

14 Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the Lor D's house which •was toward the north; and, behold, there fat women weeping for Tammuz.

15 Then said he unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? turn thee yet again, and thou slialt see greaver abominations than these.

16 And he brought me into the inner court of the Lord's house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the Lord, between the porch and the altar, nvere about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the Lord, ■and their faces toward the east: and they

worshipped the sun toward the cast.

5 fj And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity:

5 And "the found of the cherubims' wings was heard even to the outer court, as the voice of the Almighty God when he fpeaketh.
