31 V And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day.

33 And they that found him gathering sticks, brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation.

34. And they put him in ward, because it was not declared what mould be done to him.

35 And the Lord said unto Moses, The man (hall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with ltones without the camp.

36 And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the Lord commanded Moses.

37 fl And the Lor D spake unto Moses, saying,

38 Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments, throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue:

39 Anditfhallbeuntoyouforafringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember ail the commandments of the Lo R D, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart, and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring:

40 That ye may remember, and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God.

41 I am the Lor n your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to beyourGod: I am the Lord your God.

CHAP. XVI. 1 Therebellionof'Korah,is'c: 31 Hispunijhment. 41 A plague, 4.6 flayed by Aaron.

NOW Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi; and Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, and On the son of Peleth, sons of Kt u 1.1*11, took men .

2 And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown:

3 And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the Lo Rdm among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation ot the Lor D?

4 And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face.

5 And he spake unto Korah, and unto

all his company, saying.Even tomorro\ the Lord will mew v/hoare his, and ivA is holy j and will cause him to come nea untohinv. even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him .

6 This do j Take you censers, Korah and all his company;

7 And put fire therein, and put in ■ cense in them before the Lord to morrow: and it shall be that the man whorr the Lo R D doth choose, he/hall be holy :yi take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi

8 And Moses said unto Korah, Hear, I pray you, ye sons of Levi:

9 Seemeth it but a small thing unto you, that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself, to do the service of the tabernacle of the Lord, and to stand before the congregation, to minister unto them?

10 And he hath brought thee near to him, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee: and seek ye the priesthood also?

11 For which cause both thou and all thy company are gathered together against the Lord; and what it Aaron, that ye murmur against him?

11 And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab: which said, We will not come up:

13// it a small thing that thou hast: brought us up out of a land that floweth with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, except thou make thyself altogether a prince over us?

14. Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk and honey, or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come up.

15 AndMoseswas very wroth,and said unto the Lord, Respect not thou their offering: I have not taken oneass from them, neither have I hurt one of them. 16 And Moses said unto Korah, Be thou and all thy company before the Lord, thou, and they, and Aaron to morrow:

17 And take every man his censer, and put incense in them, and bring ye before the Lord every man his censer, two hundred and fifty censers j thou also, and Aaron, each of you. his censer.

18 And they took every man his censer, and put fire in them, and laid in cense thereon, and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Moses and Aaron.

19 And Korah gathered all the congregation against them, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation t

36 And the Lord spake unto Moses, faying,

37 Speak unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the burning, and scatter thou the fire yonder; for they are hallowed.

38 The censers of these sinners against their own souls, let them make them broad plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before the Lor D, therefore they are hallowed: and they stiall be a sign unto the children of Israel.

39 And Eleazar the priest took the brasen censers, wherewith they that were burnt had offered; and they were made broad a/a/rr for a covering of the altar:

40 To be a. memorial unto the children of Israel, that no stranger, which it not of the seed of Aaron, come near to offer incense before the Lo R D ; that he be not as Korah, and as his company: as the> Lord said to him by the hand of Moses.

41 t\ But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of the Lord.

41 And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation! and, behold, the cloud coveredif, and the glory of the Lord appeared.

43 And Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation.

44 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

45 Get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them as in a moment. And they fell upon their faces.

46 ^ And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off' the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the LorD ; the plague is begun.

47 And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an atonement for the people.

48 And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.

49 Now they that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, beside them'that died about the matter of Korah.

50 And Aaron returned unto Mofes K. unto NUMBERS The priests and Levitts' chargr.

CHAP. XVII.

■ i Aaron's rod budding, io is laid up for a

AN D the Lord spake unto Moses, faying,

i Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the houie of their fathers, of all their princes according to the luuse of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man's name upon his rod.

. 5 And thou (halt write Aaron's name upon the rod of Levi: for one m&Jhall be for the head of the houie of their father*.

+And thou (halt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you.

5 And it mall come to pals, that the man's rod, whom I (hall choose, (hall blossom: and I will make to ceale from me the murmurings of the children of I frael, whereby they murmur against you.

6 And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their .princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one according to their fathers houies,' e<uen twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron voas among their rods.

7 And Moses laid up the rods before the Lord, in the tabernacle of witness.

8 And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moles went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.

9 And Moles brought out all the rods from before the Lor U unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.

To <J And the Lord said unto Moses, Bring Aaron's rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou slialt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.

ii And Moses did/o: as the Lord commanded him, so did be.

ix And the children of Israel spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, we die, we perilh, we all per fin.

15 Whosoever cometh any thing near unto the tabernacle of the Lord (hull die: mall we be consumed with dying?

3 And they (hall keep thy-charge, aj the charge of all the tabernacle: or they (hall not come nigh the vessels the lanctuary and the altar, that neitl: they, nor ye also, die.

4 And they (hall be. joined unto th< and keep the charge of the tabernacle the congregation, for all the service the tabernacle: and a stranger (hall n come nigh unto you.

5 And ye (hall keep the charge of t sanctuary, and the charge of the alta that there be no wrath any more up< the children of Israel.

6 And I, behold, I have taken yo brethren the Levites from among t, children of IIrat1: to you they are givi at a gift for the Lord, todotheservi of the tabernacle of the congregation

7 Therefore thou and thy sons wi thee lhall keep your priest's office i every thing of the altar and within t] vail; and ye shall serve: I have givi your priest's office unto you as a servi of gift: and the stranger that come nigh lhall be put to death.

8 And the Lord lake unto Aaro Behold, I also have given thee the char; of mine heave offerings of all the ha lowetl things of the children of Ifrae unto thee have I given them by reati of the anointing, and to thy sons, by: ordinance for ever.

18 And the flesh of them shall be thine, a the wave breast and as the right iocider are thine.

25 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

16 Thus speak unto the Levites, and fay unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the Lo R D , even a tenth part ot the tithe. .

17 And this your heave offering shall be reckoned unto you, as though // ivefe the corn of the threfhingfloor, and as the fulness of the winepre/s.

18 Thus ye also shall offer an heave offering unto the Lord of all your tithes, which ye receive of the children of Israel; and ye shall give thereof the Lord's heaveofrcringtoAaron the priest.

29 Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave offering of the Lord, of all the best thereof, even the hallowed part thereof out of it.

joTherefore thou shalt say unto them, When ye have heaved the best thereof from it, then it shall be counted unto the Levites as the increase of the threfhingfloor, and as the increase os the winepress. '■"

31 And ye shall eat it in every place, ye and your housholds: for it is your reward for your service in the tabernacle of the congregation.

32 And ye (hall bear no sin by reason of it, when ye have heaved from it the best of it: naither shall ye pollute the holy things of the children of Israel, left ye die.

CHAP. XIX.

1 The 'water of separation. 11 The use os

AND the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, laying,

2 This is the ordinance of the law which the Lord hath commanded, faying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke:

3 And ye (hall give her unto Eleazar the priest, that he may bring her forth without the camp, and one shall slay her before his face:

4 And Eleazar the priest shall take of her blood with his finger, and sprinkle of her blood directly before the tabernacle of the congregation seven times:

5 And one shall burn the heifer in his sight; her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, with her dung, sliall he burn:

6 And the priest shall take cedar wood

i» He ihall purify himself with it on the third day, and on the seventh day -he sliall be clean: but if he purify not himself the third day, then the seventh day he sliall not be clean.

i j Whosoever toucheth the dead body of any "man that is dead, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle os the Lord; and that soul sliall be cut off from Israel: because the water of separation wa9 not (prinkled upon him, he sliall be unclean j his undeanness is yet upon him.

i+ This is the law, when a man dieth in a tent: all that come into the tent, and all that is in the tent, sliall be unclean seven days.

15 And every open vessel, which hath no covering bound upon it, is unclean.

16 And whosoever toucheth one that is slain with a sword iu the open fields, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, sliall be unclean seven days.

17 And for an unclean person they shall take of die allies of the burnt heifer of purification for fin, and running water sliall be put thereto in a vessel:

18 And a clean person (hall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched a bone, or one slain, or one dead, or a grave:

19 And the clean person (hall sprinkle upon the unclean on the t'nirdday, and on the seventh day: and on the seventh dsy he (hall purify himself, and wasti bis

clothes, and bathe himself in water,; lhall be clean at even.

10 But the man that lhall be unck and sliall not purify himself, that 1 sliall be cut off from among the con< gation, because he hath defiled sanctuary of the Lord: the watei separation hath not been sprinkled u him; he it unclean.

11 And it sliall be a perpetual stai unto them, that he that iprinklcth water of separation (hall wain his clotl and he that toucheth the water of it ration (hall be unclean until even.
