CHASSAING'S WINE-PEPSIN AND DIASTASE.

In their report concerning this preparation, dated March, 1864, the Academy of Medicine of Paris declared that there was no chemical incompatibility whatever between Pepsine and Diastase, and that the association of those two digestive ferments would be of great value in therapeutics. Since that time Chassaing's Wine has held in important place among medicinal preparations. Many physicians have adopted and prescribed it especially in he treatment of Dyspepsia.

You may not perhaps have had an opportunity to prescribe it in your practice.

Allow me therefore to bring it under your notice and to recommend it to you in all cases of dyspepsia, gastralgia obstinate voiniting, diarrhea, insufficient alimentation, convalescence, loss of appetite, strength, etc. DOSE.-One to two wine-glasses at each meal.

P.S.-Pepsin and Diastase are prepared by us in our Factory, in Asnières, Seine, We would be very glad should any physicians visit our country to show them and convince them of the care and attention which we take 'n manufacturing our products and of the efforts which we have made to obtain the best preparation of physiological

erments,

FALIERES' SYRUP OF BROMIDE OF POTASSIUM.

The Bronide of Potassium of commerce is often impure and contains from 30 to 40 per cent. of carbonate of potassium, io lide of potassium, and above all chloride of potassium. The Medical Academy of Paris, has endorsed M. Falières' preparations by giving in 1871, upon the report of Prof. Poggiale, one of its members, its exclusive ap probation of the manner of preparation and purification of bromide of potassium, adopted by M. Falières.

This preparation has the merit of containing absolutely pure bromide of potassium. Each tablespoonful con tains 30 grains of the bromide; a dessertspoonful 15 grains, and a teaspoonful seven and a half grains. Good results may therefore be confidently anticipated wherever the use of bromide of potassium is indicated.

FALIERES' CRANULATED BROMIDE OF POTASSIUM.

Each bottle contains 75 grammes (2 ozs.) of the pure salt, and is accompanied by a spoon measure containing seven and a half grains. This preparation has the double advantage of being economical and allowing the patient to prepare his solution when required in obedience to the prescription of his physician.

To those who desire it, we shall be pleased to send Mr. Poggiale's report, submitted to the Medical Academy, and approved by the same.

FALIERES' PHOSPHATINE.

This will be found an agreeable food in the hands of physicians, and an excellent additional adjunct in phos phatic niedication. It will render good service in children, especially during weaning, in pregnant women, or wet nurses, and also in old men and convalescents. A tablespoonful contains from 3 to 4 grains of pure and assimilablı phosphate of lime. 6 VICTORIA AVENUE, PARIS, FRANCE.

Ressouts-on-Matz (Oise).

I find many opportunities of using your Pills and Syrup. Two very interesting cases of epilepsy in two young subjects, of 8 and 9 years, are rapidly cured. Since пve months these two young patients have no more crises, and formerly one of them had as much as three fits every day. VIRMONTOIS, M. D.

Please send me six bottles of Gélineau's Pills. I am always very satisfied with them.
G. BEAUMEL.
St. Helena, May 2nd 1883.

Messrs Mousnier & Dampeine,

These Pills are indeed efficacious against epilepsy. An indigent patient of mine had since three years three or four fits every week. I prescribed hundred Gelineau's Pills, and the fits disappeared for forty six days. This time past, they came back again, his means allowing not such an expense. Could you not in some way favour this poor man?

LAFFONT, M. D.

St. Die, April, 7th 1882. I beg to confirm what I have had the pleasure of saying in my last in the middle of September Mr. X... began to follow your treatment, and since that time he did never suffer any more epileptic attacks. Beside I need to say that since six years he is afflicted with this disease, and he never enjoyed such a good health as he does actually.

He has grown cheerful and merry, the complexion, appetite and sleep are excellent. The patient, his family and the physician are all satisfied with the results obtained. DE MIRBECK, M. D. Vireux-Wallerand (Ardennes), May 4th 1883.

Dear Sirs,

My patient is absolutely cured, since the last fit happened more than two years ago. But he is so afraid of a relapse that he desires to have always a few bottles at hand...

The patient had no more fits since he uses your Pills...

Messrs Mousnier & Dampeine,

once more...

CLINICAL TEACHING.--The Toronto General Hospital has a very large number of patients in the wards, who are visited daily by the medical officers in attendance. The attendance of out-door patients is also very large, and thus abundant opportunities are enjoyed by students for acquiring a familiar knowledge of Practical Medicine and Sur gery, including not merely major operations, but minor Surgery of every kind, ordinary Medical Practice, the treatment of Veneral Diseases and Skin Diseases, and the Diseases of Women and Children. The Burnside Lying-in Hospital, amalgamated with the Toronto General Hospital, has recently had its staff largely increased, and will afford special and valuable facilities for the study of Practical Midwifery. The large new building, close to the Hospital and School, will be very convenient for students attending its practice. The Mercer Eye and Ear Infirmary is also amalgamated with the Toronto General Hospital, and affords special facilities for students in this department.

Daily clinical instruction in the spacious wards and theatre of the Hospital will be given by members of the Hospital Staff on all interesting cases, Medical and Surgical. Arrangements have also been made for the delivery of daily clinics, out-door, in-door and bedside in the Hospital, by the respective professors in medicine and surgery

of both schools.

FEES FOR THE COURSE.-The Fee for Anatomy, Surgery, Practice of Medicine, Obstetrics, Materia Medica, Physiology, General Chemistry, Clinical Medicine and Clinical Surgery, $12 each. Practical Anatomy, Practical Chemistry, Normal Histology and Pathological Histology, $8 each. THE BEST ANTISEPTIC, FOR BOTH INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL USE.

LISTERINE.

FORMULA.-Listerine is the essential antiseptic constituent of Thyme, Eucalyptus, Baptisia, Gaultheria

and Mentha Arvensis, in combination. Each fluid drachm also contains two grains of refined and purified
Benzo-boracic Acid.

DOSE.-Internally: One teaspoonful three or more times a day (as indicated), either full strength or

diluted with waler, or in combination with othe drugs

LISTERINE is a well-proven antiseptic agent-an antizymotic-especially adapted to internal use and to make and maintain surgical cleanliness-asepsis-in the treatment of all parts of the human body, whether by spray, irrigation, atomization, or simple local application, and therefore characterized by its particular adaptability to the field of

PREVENTIVE MEDICINE-INDIVIDUAL PROPHYLAXIS.

LISTERINE has long since passed the experimental stage, and thorough clinical test has demonstrated that no other one antiseptic is so well adapted to the general requirements of the Physician and Surgeon, for both internal and external use, as this carefully prepared formula of Benzo-boracic acid, with vegetable products and ozoniferous essences-all antiseptics and chemically compatible.

Physicians interested in LISTERINE will please send us their address, and receive by return mail, post-paid, our new and complete Pamphlet of 36 quarto pages, embodying-

A TABULATED EXHIBIT of the action of LISTERINE | MICROSCOPIC OBSERVATIONS, showing the comparupon inert Laboratory Compounds.

FULL AND EXHAUSTIVE REPORTS and Clinical Observations from all sources, both Medical and Dental, confirming the utility of LISTERINE as a general Antiseptic for both internal and external use and particu larly

ative value and availability of various Antiseptics in the treatment of Diseases of the Oral Cavity, by W. D. Miller, A.B., Ph.D., D.D.S., Prof. of Operative and Clinical Dentistry, University of Berlin, from whose deductions LISTERINE appears to be the most acceptable prophylactic for the care and preservation of the teeth.

DISEASES OF THE URIC ACID DIATHESIS.

LAMBERT'S LITHIATED HYDRANGEA.

FORMULA. Each fluid drachm of "Lithiated Hydrangea" represents thirty grains
of Fresh Hydrangea and three grains of chemically pure Benzo-Salicylate
of Lithia. Prepared by our improved process of osmosis, it is invariably of
definite and uniform therapeutic strength, and hence can be depended upon
in clinical practice.

DOSE.

One or two teaspoonfuls four times a day, preferably between meals.

THE solution and et combination of certain fours of Lithia and a kidney Alterative.

HE solution and elimination of an excess of uric acid and urates is, acording to many authorities, best attained

The ascertained value of Hydrangea in Calculous Complaints and Abnormal Conditions of the Kidneys, through the earlier reports of Drs. Atlee, Horsley, Monkur, Butler and others, and the well-known utility of Lithia in the diseases of the Uric Acid Diathesis, at once justified the therapeutic claims for Lambert's Lithiated Hydrangea when first announced to the Medical Profession, whilst subsequent use and close clinical observation has caused it to be regarded by Physicians generally as the best and most soothing Kidney Alterative and Anti-lithia agent yet known in the treatment of

Urinary Calculus, Diabetes, Gout, Rheumatism, Bright's Disease, Albuminuria, and vesical irritation generally.

We have had prepared for the convenience of Physicians DIETETIC NOTES, suggesting the articles of food to be allowed or prohibited in several of these diseases :

These Dietetic Notes have been bound in the form of small perforated slips for Physicians to distribute to their patients Mailed gratis upon request, together with the latest compilation of case reports and clinical observations bearing upon the treatment of this class of diseases.

ALETRIS CORDIAL

UTERINE TONIC AND RESTORATIVE.

Prepared from the Aletris Farinosa or True Unicorn and Aromatics.

INDICATIONS.

Amenorrhea, Dysmenorrhea, Leucorrhea, Prolapsus Uteri, Sterility, to Prevent Miscarriage, Etc.

DOSE :-ONE TEASPOONFUL THREE OR FOUR TIMES A DAY.

UNRIVALED AS A UTERINE TONIC IN IRREGULAR, PAINFUL, SUPPRESSED AND EXCESSIVE MENSTRUATION.

It Restores Normal Action to the Uterus, and Imparts Vigor to the Entire Uterine System.

Where women have miscarried during previous pregnancies, or in any case where miscarriage is feared, the ALETRIS CORDIAL is indicated, and should be continuously administered during entire gestation.

CHAS. CLAY, M. R. C. S., Manor House, Dewsbury, England, says: -I find Aletris Cordial (Rio) is of great service in threatened miscarriage.

FRANCIS E. CANE, L. R. C. S., &c., Leeds, England, says: -I have tried the Aletris Cordial (Rio) in two cases of long standing dysmenorrhea, with excellent results. One of these patients has spent a week in bed every month for two years. After all the usual remedies, I put her on Aletris Cordial, and for the last two periods she has been out and about all the time.

L. M. WATSON, M. D., Delhi, Ills., says:-I have used Aletris Cordial (Rio) in cases of dysmenorrhea. suppressed menses and threatened miscar riage, and also, combined with Celerina, as a tonic after confinement, with the happiest results, and now I am using it on a case of leucorrhea, with injections of S. H. Kennedy's Extract of Pinus Canadensis, and it is acting like a charm.

P. H. OWEN, M. D., Morganville, Ala., says: -I have prescribed Aletris Cordial (Rio) in several cases with the most satisfactory results, and regard it as the best uterine tonic I have met with in a professional experience of over twenty-five years. In cases of threatened miscarriage it acts like a charm. Would recommend its continuous administration in all cases when there is any indication of miscarriage.

Dr. RASQUINET, Jupile, near Liege, Belgium, says:-I tried Aletris Cordial (Rio) in the case of a woman who had had several miscarriages at the end of five months, and who is now again preg. nant, having reached the seventh month: thanks to Aletris Cordial.

R. REECE, M. R. C. S., Walton-on-Thames, England, says: -Aletris Cordial (Rio) in painful menstruation is most valuable. A wife of a minister suffered much, and had had three miscar. riages. I prescribed Aletris Cordial. She has for the first time, gone her full time, and was safely confined with a male child.

J. T. COLLIER, M. D., Brooks, Me., says: -I have used your Aletris Cordial (Rio) in cases of females at the menopause. Consider it one of the finest remedies for these cases.

Dr. GORDILLON, St. Amand, France, says: I have tried the Aletris Cordial (Rio) in a case of dysmenorrhea. The result I obtained from the use of your preparation was excellent. better than I had obtained in the same patient by prescribing the usual remedies employed in such cases.

W. F. TOOMBS, M. D., Morrillton, Ark., says: -I have used a great deal of your Aletris Cordial (Rio) and I find it all you claim for it in amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, metritis, leucorrhea; I don't think it has an equal. I have used it in two cases of threatened miscarriage and the trouble was obviated. For a general Uterine Tonic I know of nothing superior.

R. D. PATTERSON, L. R. C. S. &c., Medical Officer, Caledon Dispensary, Co. Tyrone, Ireland, says:-I have very great pleasure in testifying to the very high opinion I hold of Aletris Cordial (Rio) in threatened miscarriage.
