POEMS OF AN INTERVAL.

THE loppéd tree in time may grow again;
Most naked plants renew both fruit and flower;
The sorriest wight may find release of pain;
The driest soil suck in some moistening shower.

*

No joy so great but runneth to an end-
No hap so hard but may in time amend.

ROBERT SOUTHWELL.

Tombs where lonely love repines,
Glastly tenements of tears
Wear the look of happy shrines

Through the golden mist of years.

R. MONCKTON MILNES.

To Sorrow I was cast

To act and suffer; but remount at last

With a fresh pinion.

LORD BYRON.
