Remonstrance of physicians of Milwaukee against passage of No. 188, S.,

Ordered spread on journal.

MILWAUKEE, February 24, 1879.

To the Wisconsin Legislature - Assembly Chamber:

We, the undersigned medical practitioners of the city of Milwaukee, respectfully remonstrate against the passage of a bill "to regulate the practice of medicine in the state of Wisconsin," passed upon under No. 188, S., by the senate, Friday last.

As it has been demonstrated extensively by the press, and intimated to the members of the senate, previous to the passage of the bill, by a delegation of prominent gentlemen of the profession, there is no necessity, no demand for special legislation, either from any number of medical practitioners or from any class of the population.

We do not advocate any legislation against the wishes of the people, introduced in the interest of a small minority, and shortness of time only prevents us to affix the signatures of a large majority of the physicians of the whole state to this remonstrance.
