to ferve, and in no other Regiment whatever; and no Perfon enlisting
in any
fuch Regiment fhall, on any Account or Pretence whatsoever,
be drafted into or ferve in any other Regiment without his Confent,
except in fome Garrifon or Veteran Battalion, in cafe it fhall be
neceffary or expedient to transfer fuch Perfon into any Garrison or
Veteran Battalion on account of his being disabled, or for any other
fufficient Caufe.

XVII. Provided always, and be it further enacted, That every Officer fo volunteering to ferve in His Majefty's Regular Forces with any fuch Company of Men as aforefaid fhall, upon his Reduction, be entitled to and receive the Half Pay of the Rank in which he shall have been ferving at the time of his Reduction.

XVIII. Provided always, and be it further enacted, That the total Numbers of Officers, Non Commiffioned Officers, Drummers and Private Men, to be raised under this Act, either by extending their Services to Europe as Militia, or by Enliftment by Companies into fuch Regiments of the Line as may be appointed by His Majefty for that Purpose, fhall not exceed Thirty Thousand; and that the Number of Men to be raised under this Act in any Regiment, Battalion or Corps of Militia, either by extending their Services to Europe as Militia, or by Enliftment by Companies into fuch Regiments of the Line as may be appointed by His Majefty for that Purpose, fhall in no cafe exceed Three fourths of the Number of Private Men actually ferving in any fuch Regiment, Battalion or Corps.

XIX. Provided always, and be it further enacted, That nothing in this Act contained fhall affect, or be conftrued to affect, any of the Provifions, Claufes or Regulations contained in the feveral Acts paffed in the Fifty firft Year of the Reign of His prefent Majefty, the one intituled An Act to allow a certain Proportion of the Militia of Great Britain to enlift annually into the Regular Forces; and to provide for the gradual Reduction of the faid Militia; and the other, intituled An Ad to amend the feveral Aas for enabling His Majefty to accept the Services of Volunteers from the Militia of Ireland, or any of the Proviflons or Regulations now in force, for allowing the Militia of any Part of the United Kingdom to enlift into His Majesty's Regular Forces, except in fuch cases as are in this Act particularly and efpecially specified and provided: Provided always, that in any Volunteering from the Militia, which may be ordered by His Majefty, for the Year One thoufand eight hundred and fourteen, or for any fucceeding Year, under the Provifions of the aforefaid Acts of the Fifty first Year of His prefent Majefty, it fhall be lawful for His Majefty, if He fhall think fit, to order and direct that the Number fo permitted to enlift into the Regular Forces, may transfer their Services into that Part of the Militia ferving in Europe, or may enlift as Companies, or Parts of Companies, into the Regular Forces, under the Provifions of this Act, in the manner herein prefcribed, without regard to the specific Quota which each Regiment, Battalion or Corps is by the aforefaid Acts required to furnish.

XX. Provided always, and be it further enacted, That nothing in this A&t contained shall extend or be construed to extend to the London Militia. [See 54 G. 3. c. 38. §1.]

• XXXIX. And whereas by the faid Act paffed in the Thirty 38 G. 3. c. 60.. eighth Year of the Reign of His prefent Majefty, intituled An $108.

Aa for making perpetual fubject to Redemption and Purchase in the manner therein ftated, the feveral Sums of Money now charged in Great Britain as a Land Tax for One Year, from the Twenty fifth Day of March One thousand feven hundred and ninety eight, it was enacted, that the feveral Duties impofed on Sugar by Three Acts of the Twenty feventh, Thirty fourth and Thirty feventh Years of the Reign of His prefent Majefty, on Malt, by an Act made in the Twenty feventh Year of the Reign of His prefent Majefty, and the Duties of Excife on Tobacco and Snuff, by an Act made in the Twenty ninth Year of the Reign of His prefent Majefty, fhould continue in force until the Twenty fifth Day of March One thousand seven hundred and ninety nine, and no longer, but should from thenceforth cease and determine, unless the same should be specially continued by Parliament, which faid feveral Duties were by an Act made and paffed in the Thirty ninth Year of the Reign of His prefent Majefty, intituled An 39 G. 3. c. 3. • Aa for continuing and granting to His Majefly a Duty on Penfions, • Offices and Perfonal Eftates, in England, Wales and the Town of Berwick upon Tweed, and certain Duties on Sugar, Malt, Tobacco and Snuff, for the Service of the Year One thousand feven hundred and ninety nine, further continued until the Twenty fifth Day of • March One thousand eight hundred, and which by several subfequent Acts, were further continued until the Twenty fifth Day of March One thousand eight hundred and eleven: And whereas by an Act paffed in the Forty ninth Year of the Reign of His 49 G. 3. c. 98. prefent Majefty, intituled An Ad for repealing the feveral Duties $1.7. of Customs chargeable in Great Britain, and for granting other Duties on Sugar, Duties in lieu thereof, the faid feveral Duties on Sugar were repealed, and other Duties granted on Sugar in lieu thereof: And whereas by another Act, paffed in the Forty third Year of 43 G. 3. c. 69. the Reign of His prefent Majefty, intituled An Act to repeal the $1. Duties of Excife payable in Great Britain, and to grant other Duties in lieu thereof, certain of the faid Duties on Licences to be taken out by Dealers in Tobacco and Snuff, and certain • Duties on Tobacco, were repealed, and other Duties granted in lieu thereof: And whereas the faid Duties granted by the faid laft recited Acts were continued until the Twenty fifth Day of • March One thousand eight hundred and thirteen: And whereas

CA P. IV.

An Act to continue until Six Weeks after the Commencement
of the next Seffion of Parliament, an Act paffed in the
laft Seifion of Parliament, intituled, An Act to continue
and amend an Act of the prefent Seffion, to prevent the iffuing
and circulating of Pieces of Gold and Silver, or other Metal,
ufually called Tokens, except fuch as are iffued by the Banks of
England and Ireland respectively. [26th November 1813.]..

HEREAS an A&t paffed in the laft Seffion of Parliament, intituled An Act to continue and amend an Ad of the prefent Seffion, to prevent the iffuing and circulating of Pieces of Gold and Silver, or other Metal, ufually called Tokens, except Juch as are iffued by the Banks of England and Ireland refpectively: And whereas it is expedient that the Period limited in the faid recited Act for the Circulation of Pieces of Gold or Silver and mixed Metals, in the faid recited Act specified and denominated Tokens, fhould be further extended;' May it therefore please Your Majefty that it may be enacted; and be it enacted by The King's Moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That fo much of the faid recited Act as prohibits the Circulation of fuch Tokens as are in the faid recited A&t described, after Six Weeks from the Commencement of this Seffion of Parliament, fhall be and the fame is hereby repealed.

II. And be it further enacted, That, from and after Six Weeks from the Commencement of the next Seffion of Parliament no Piece

of Gold or Silver, or of any mixed Metal compofed partly of Gold or Silver, of whatever Name the fame may be, fhall pafs or circulate as a Token for Money, or as purporting that the Bearer or Holder thereof is entitled to demand any Value denoted thereon, either by Letters, Words, Figures, Mark or otherwise, whether fuch Value is to be paid or given in Money or Goods, or other Value, or in any manner whatfoever; and every Person who fhall, after Six Weeks from the Commencement of the next Seffion of Parliament, circulate or pafs as for any nominal Value in Money or Goods any fuch Token, fhall, for every fuch Token fo circulated or paffed, whether fuch Perfon fhall be or have been concerned in the original Iffuing or Circulation of any fuch Token, or only the Bearer or Holder thereof for the time being, forfeit any Sum not less than Five Pounds nor more than Ten Pounds, at Penalty. the Discretion of fuch Juftice or Juftices of the Peace who fhall hear and determine fuch Offence; provided that nothing in this A&t contained shall extend or be conftrued to extend to prevent any Perfon from prefenting any fuch Token for Payment to the original Iffuer Original Iffuer. thereof, or to discharge or excufe any fuch original Ïffuer from his Liability to pay the fame.

III. And be it therefore enacted, That all Perfons who fhall have Iffuers of Local originally iffued or have been concerned in the original Iffuing or Tokens liable to Circulation of any fuch Tokens, and their respective Executors and pay fame by Adminiftrators, fhall be and they are hereby declared to be liable in Law, upon Demand made of the Value denoted upon the Tokens iffued by fuch Perfons refpectively, to pay the fame; and the Amount of Money or Value denoted upon any fuch Tokens, either by Letters, Words, Figures, Marks or otherwife, may be recovered by the Bearer or Holder hereof, in any Action or Suit against the Perfon or Perfons who fhall have originally iffued or been concerned in the original Iffuing or Circulation of fuch Token, in like manner as the Amount or Value of any Promiffory Notes payable to Bearer, and iffuable by Law, may now be recovered, to pay off or discharge

IV. Provided always, and be it further enacted, That nothing Iffue of Promifin this Act contained shall extend, or be conftrued to extend, to fory Notes authorize or make legal the iffuing of any Promiffory Note, not under 20s. being a Token compofed of Gold or Silver, or of mixed Metal compofed partly of Gold or Silver, which cannot now be issued by

V. in by Law the faid Oaths, Declarations and Affurance, ought to have been taken and fubfcribed, in fuch manner and Form, and at or in fuch Place or Places as are appointed in and by the faid Act, made in the First Year of the Reign of His faid late Majefty King George the Firft, or by any other Act or Acts of Parliament in that behalf made and provided, and also hath or have received, or shall, on or before the faid Twenty fifth Day of March One thousand eight hundred and fifteen, receive the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper, according to the Ufage of the Church of England, in fuch cafes wherein the faid Sacrament ought to have been received, and hath or ought to (a) have made and fubfcribed, or fhall, on or before the faid Twenty fifth Day of March One thoufand eight hundred and fifteen, make and fubfcribe the said Declaration against Transubstantiation, and alfo hath or have made and subscribed, or fhall, on or before the faid Twenty fifth Day of March One thousand eight hundred and fifteen, make and subscribe the said Declaration in the faid Statute made in the Thirtieth Year of King Charles the Second, in fuch cases wherein the faid Declaration ought to have been made and subscribed, or take and subscribe the Oath directed by the faid A&t made in the Eighteenth Year of the Reign of His late Majefty King George the Second, in such cases wherein the said Oath ought to have been taken and fubfcribed, in fuch manner as by the faid A&t is directed, fhall be and are hereby indemnified, freed and discharged, from and against all Penalties, Forfeitures, Incapacities and Difabilities, incurred, or to be incurred for or by reafon of any Neglect or Omiffion, previous to the paffing of this Act, of taking or fubfcribing the faid Oaths or Affurance, or receiving the Sacrament, or making or fubfcribing the faid Declaration, or taking or fubfcribing the faid Oath according to the above mentioned Acts, or any of them, or any other A&t or Acts; and fuch Perfon and Perfons is and are, and fhall be fully and actually recapacitated and restored to the fame State and Condition as he, the or they, were in before fuch Neglect or Omiffion, and fhall be deemed and adjudged to have duly qualified him, her or themselves, according to the above mentioned Acts, and every of them; and that all Elections of, and Acts done or to be done by any fuch Perfon or Perfons, or by Authority derived from him, her or them, are and fhall be of the fame Force and Validity as the fame, or any of them, would have been if fuch Perfon or Perfons refpectively had taken the faid Oaths or Affurance, and received the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper, and made and subscribed the faid Declarations, and taken and subscribed the faid Oath according to the Directions of the faid Acts, and every or any of them; and that the Qualification of such Perfon or Perfons, qualifying themselves in manner and within the time appointed by this Act, fhall be, to all Intents and Purposes, as effectual as if fuch Perfon or Perfons had refpectively taken the faid Oaths and Affurance, and received the Sacrament, and made and fubfcribed the faid Declaration, and taken and fubfcribed the faid Oath, within the time and in the manner appointed by the feveral Acts before mentioned. II. And whereas feveral Perfons well affected to His Majefty's ⚫ Government, and to the United Church of England and Ireland have, through Ignorance of the Law, neglected, or been by Sicknefs or other unavoidable Caufes, prevented from taking and • fubfcribing
